Some questions about painful urination for men with HSV

Recommended Posts

Why do some men have painful urination caused by HSV? Is it painful because the urine gets on the sores or can it be painful even without sores? Some STD's like gonorrhea and chlamydia cause painful urination because the urethra gets irritated, does HSV do this to? Is the pain on the initial OB or recurrences to?

The urethra can in fact become irritated. Gonorrhea is a very common cause of urethritis (irritated urethra) but HSV is a very common cause of NGU (non-gonococcal urethritis. Despite what you may read, sores are not found the majority of times with HSV induced NGU.
