Why haven't lymph nodes decreased since herpes diagnosis?

I have been diagnosed with HSV2 for a year and a half. Nine months ago I noticed pain in my groin area after running. It would hurt mildly for a week or so then come back.

There does not seem to be a correlation with my OBs and my enlarged lymph nodes

On one side of my groin being enlarged and in pain. My doctors have examined me and finally

On Monday I was given an ultrasound. He, the DR, said it's definitely my lymph nodes. For a month, in march, they experimented with giving me doxycycline to see if I had an infection

In the groin and maybe that would heal it. It hasn't. I do not know if this relates to me having H

But I am worried. The DR said that since I am small and slim that the lymph nodes stand out and that the pain is something I will have to deal with the rest of my life. To me that is garbage. I have an appointment to have a second opinion by someone else later this week.

Thoughts on groin lymph node pain? Please share : D

Family Dr's can be useless when it comes to this kind of thing. I'd get to an Infectious Disease specialist or Urologist/OBGYN (depending on your sex for all readers) and see what they say. One thing that I just thought about that *might* help (but odds are you will have to pay out of pocket) if the Dr's come up with nothing would be to go to a Massage Therapist who specializes in Lymphatic Drainage. It may just be that the lymph gland got blocked and can't drain ... they know how to get the lymph flowing again ...

I'm going to chime in with the "Don't trust Dr. Google." Who's Dr. Google? Why you are Dr. Google, silly.

Are you a trained medical professional? If not, it's quite possible you are diagnosing englarged lymph nodes that aren't really enlarged; everyone's lymph nodes are different and come in different shapes and sizes. Second, I'm willing to bet dollars to donuts that you're poking them and prodding them. That just pisses 'em off, which causes them to become enlarged and hurt a little bit.

My advice; Lay off them for a week and see what happens. Because you're not experiencing other symptoms like fatigue, nausea, rashes, etc., I wouldn't assume it's a bacterial, virological, or other serious biological reason. Like Dancer said, it could be as simple as needing a massage. However, if you stop touching them and things don't get better in a week or two? Get in and see a doctor.
