Long term daily ant-viral user not getting expected results.

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for information regarding prolonged severe Hsv 2 prodromal symptoms. I have been on anti-virals for 9 years due to constant recurrent episodes. Recently, I've developed prodrome starting in the pubic area that leads to the lateral left leg. The usual doubling of the daily dose that would clear it up has not worked. I'm thinking of going off anti-virals as I am chained to them and they seem to be not working.

@marko

I would personally go to a Dr and see if they can find out why your body has not managed to control this thing after such a long time. I wonder if your immune system is compromised somehow? And Infectious Disease specialist may be the best bet for you ...they can check your immune function and see if anything else is going on...

I'd do that before going off of them ... if your immune function is down then coming off them could make things a LOT worse :(

I went to the doctor and he suspects it isn't herpes but Meralgia Paresthetica, a neurological disorder/injury that is caused from restrictive clothing. It mimics prodrome quite convincingly. Recommendaion - lose weight and wear less restrictive clothing. It's still there, and may be for some time. @Wcsdancer2010 - Thank you for your reply.

Glad you went - yes, Meralgia Paresthetica would mimic it with the tingling and such ... nerve issues can be so difficult to diagnose .... keep us posted about whether that words for you .... certainly weight can cause issues of nerve impingement and the clothing issue would aggravate it ... I'm curious to know if that is the issue :)
