I want suppressive therapy NOW! Help

Recommended Posts

I have recently been diagnosed. I have recently given it to my boyfriend which I am heartbroken about.

The NHS (uk health service) guidance says that I must have more than 6 outbreaks in a year for them to consider suppressive therapy. I have had two out breaks both painful, close together. Now my boyfriend had it. Mentally I am struggling to cope and think I need professional help. I want suppressive therapy I can't wait for another 4 outbreaks I need to have some time off from this virus. As soon as I think I can move on BOOM it creeps back up. I can't take this anymore I'm going crazy.

Hate to tell you this but you just have to lie and say you have had non-stop OB's ... that it almost clears and you get another. The NHS is horridly behind around protecting partners and suppressants in general - that's the price of a nationalized healthcare system because it's a place they can cut corners in the budget unfortunately :(

Your only other option is to go to a private Dr and pay for the script unfortunately :(

Sorry ... but it's a problem with your system. However, I would contact your Dr and let him know that your BF now has it thanks to the way the system works. Find out if there is any place you can write and tell your story so they consider changing the rules for the future... it won't help you now but it may help someone else :(

Look around here for ways to find relief... there are lots of discussions ... and this will get you started:

Go Commando as much as possible - getting air to the area can help to dry it out more quickly

Reduce stress as much as possible - Herpes feeds off stress!!! It can become a good barometer for you that your body needs attention in some form or other

Look up Trigger Foods/triggers on here in the FAQ and search bar - lots of topics on them ... the main foods are chocolate and nuts but you want to learn about the Lysine/Argenine balance that can help keep Herpes under control

Epsom Salts baths can do wonders for some. Sit in the bath and dump a few handfuls of the salts right between your legs. Relax and let the salts do their thing then get out and dry off, finishing with a blow drier set on low heat to really get the area dry.

These 4 things seem to do the most help for the most people. Aloe Vera CREAM (make sure ALOE is one of the first ingredients and there isn't a bunch of other crap like petroleum and if it has glycerine, it's AFTER the Aloe in the ingredients .. go to a Health food store for your best chance of getting a good product) or Zinc cream may help during the day to keep it from sticking and help relieve the pain ..

Also: Gold Bond Spray powder - right after exercising/hot showers/etc. Supposedly really cools the area ;)
