Herpes test result question

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I had an encounter with a HSV 2 positive partner that I was concerned about. I have not had any obvious lesions at this point. I took an IgM test at 23 days post encounter which was negative for both HSV1 and 2. I recently took an IgG test at 10 weeks post this encounter. It was negative for HSV1 and 2 also. Should I take this as not having been affected? Or should I take another IgG at 16 weeks just to be sure?

Thank you for your input!

Hey there, Timmy2!

Welcome! Yeah, herpes testing in our society is a cluster, unfortunately. :)

Here's an article that should clear up any lingering questions (including what ihaveittoo is correctly pointing to):
