how do i interpret this?

Recommended Posts

So in both July and October, I got tested for Herpes type 2 and both came out equivocal--last sex encounter was late May or early June. I've never had symptoms I just got tested because why not. I just got tested again on Dec 4th and it came back borderline positive 1.11

My doctor says she cant tell me a definite answer because i have no symptoms and these antibody tests are known to produce a lot of false positives. what should I think of this?

I’m not a doctor, but from what I’ve read, three tests in the equivocal range over the course of 8 months sounds like no herpes. Do you know which type of blood test you had? You should make sure it was the IgG. The way the test is designed/ran (I forget which), virtually no one gets a zero. You could do a western blot if you were really concerned, but I personally wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.
