Feeling so low

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting on here. What an amazing website! Whenever Im Feeling down I always look on here because it really does help hearing everyone else’s story knowing we’re all in the same boat and it doesn’t make me feel as bad. I’ve had genital herpes for over a year now and I’ve been dealing with it pretty well. When I was first told, admittedly it took me months to get over the fact of living with an std, it sucks doesn’t it. I’ve been taking acyclovir for about a year now constantly (with a few breaks from the very beginning before being put on surpressive therapy) I had nearly gone a week without the tablets and then bam a breakout happened and i almost forgot how much it irritates me so much. I know it’s a usual thing to experience once you come off the tablets but I’ve been so down whilst having this breakout it’s been constant irritation and I just want it to go away. I just want to hear if anyone else has taken the tablets for a long period of time and come off then and if they’re outbreaks have gotten any better? I’m praying that they’ll calm down and I’m going to exercise more and eat healthy. I’ve also noticed the right side of my groin I’ve got a swollen lymph node which popped up when I had an outbreak, I understand this is because your body is fighting the infection ? Is there hope? :( xx

I never had to take it unless I had an outbreak. I wonder if there are different strains? I was formally diagnosed in 2017 but my first symptom was in 2015. I tested negative but due to a new relationship I retested and it was positive. its been a rough year and a half for sure. still don't know how to cope. but finding this forum has helped
