Trying to get pregnant

So I’ve had genital herpes for about 4 years my fiancé and I are trying to get pregnant, I just have some concerns not sure if I will get crazy outbreaks during the pregnancy due to hormonal  changes and if I do can it be managed with medication that will not harm my child?

Also is it safe to have a vaginal birth? This will be my first pregnancy when and if it happens and under these circumstances I just want to be well informed.

I have had  herpes for 5yrs and 2 children since having herpes. (My daughter is 2 my son is 1). I experienced a breakout with both pregnancies and the medication was safe to take (acyclovir) . Majority doctors will prefer you have a c-section only if you have an outbreak during the time of delivery.

Were your outbreaks really bad during the pregnancy?

They weren’t bad ...just lasted a little longer than usual! My outbreaks usually last for a week but lasted for 2 weeks with the pregnancies.  But other than that, the pregnancies were both normal and fun!!

Remember though that everyone’s body is different and reacts differently to pregnancy! 

But honestly my complaint was more about the morning sickness...not the breakouts!! Lol

I didn’t have outbreaks during either of my pregnancy, didn’t take antivirals, and delivered both vaginally. Everyone is different though of course. I contracted H at age 16 and had my children about 15+ years later though.  Good luck to you!
