  1. If its hsv igm showing as positive and igg negative in your blood report then its a very recent infection (within a month). Igg takes around 3 months to show in blood report. I know not knowing how you got it causes a huge mental stress. Can you check if its igm or igg or both showing positive in your blood report?

  2. I also too think the same @sarahsfocus. I hope @sadguy2019 finds out how beautiful this good news is and can move on. Also I am praying my results to be false positive. Only time will say what it is. Since I am from India it's very very difficult for me to talk about std with a girl. Its like every does it but the moment they find someone has std he or she becomes bad. Whenever I think about my future I become depressed. So right now only focusing on present.

Thank you for replying! I guess I will wait 6 months & get an Igg blood test. Is that more accurate? Does it measure the antibodies in my blood?

Yes it has better accuracy. It will actually measure your antibodies. Also go for type specific hsv1 and hsv2 igg blood test so that you know what type it is. Dont go for igm. Also dont go for pcr blood test. If any doctor is recommending for pcr blood test then probably you need to visit another doctor.

That does make sense, I guess maybe he is lying about when he found out. He made it seem like the dr had called to have him come in earlier but he had put it off because he assumed it was about his cholesterol since it had been high for a while. I honestly don’t want to think. He genuinely seemed upset and shocked when he told me. He didn’t even want to see me for a week, but I don’t know, maybe it was an act.

I am so confused and scared. But thanks for your response. I guess I have some questions I should be asking.

Well the question I will be having is when your doctor is not ready to order a test for you how come his doctor ordered the same test for him unless there was a strong reason for the doctor to order for it. I am not sure how it is in your country but I will assume a doctor will not wait for a month to share the results.

Coming to condom, yes it can give protection though its not 100% full proof. If he is not having oral hsv then kissing shouldn't be a problem. Also if he did not have any outbreak or had any symptoms of outbreak when you two were intimate dont think there's any risk of transmission. But since you said he is positive for both hsv1 and 2, i will assume he has oral hsv.

  5. Well since you know you have been exposed its better to get your blood tested after 3 or 4 months of exposure unless you get any symptoms.

Also its not true that condom can not protect it. Usage of condom, anti viral therapy and no sex during out break or signs of out break can stop the prevention. There are many success stories of couples where one is hsv negative.

Not sure if I can comment on your bfs decision of not using protection. Since you are the one who is negative, in my opinion it should be your decision whether to use protection or not.

  6. Well what I have read is swab tests can give false negative from a healing sore. Otherwise positives are pretty much accurate. But then no tests are 100% accurate. I read one case where an individual was positive through swab test but later after 6 months or so blood work showed negative. I will suggest an igg blood work after 4 months or so.

  7. @sadguy2019 for sure you dont have hsv. Otherwise it would have come positive by now in one of the tests. Have you tried talking about it to your closed ones? I guess you need to talk with someone about it in person to come out of the emotional and mental struggle you are going through. Really glad to see the results are negative for you. Wish you a healthy life ahead, both physically and mentally. More power to you.

It's ok, and September was not too long ago, so just go easy on yourself, you just have to look at this as the next person to accept that I have this is going to really love me for who I am and therefore it is going to be a good relationship. You just need to try and build yourself back up again, I hated myself for having this but thinking back on it, I was never comfortable with myself even when I didn't have it, I was incredibly insecure and needed to be with someone. I wasn't a strong person and having this made me stronger and made me start focusing on things in my own life like changing jobs, gyming 3 times a week, seeing my friends, putting some pictures of myself up on social media, things like that, if kind of forced me to be more confident and independent ironically! Try and think of maybe 2 things in your life you want to work on or improve and work on them, if guys start talking to you along the way look at them as a side thought to your goals and the  chances are they will find you more attractive that way too!

Your experience gave me lots of positive hopes. Slowly learning to accept the truth and trying to bring positivity to life.

  9. Dont consider yourself as bad or not worthy. We all are beautiful in our own ways. A virus does not define us. Everyone of us has antibodies of 100s of viruses. Why will this one make any difference ? True its a bump on the road in our personal and love life. But who knows what is waiting for us in the next turn on the road. Stay positive, stay healthy both emotionally and physically. Love will find you in due course of time. Till then enjoy other things in life. More power to you.

  10. Well I am also new to this. 17 days back I found it through a blood report. Haven't experienced any ob as such. What I read is the first one is the worst. Recurrence are not that bad as the first one. But then again everyone as unique and different experience. If its ghsv1 then the ob are like once in every one and half year. You have to figure out which type it is. Lots of people here have managed to control ob by improving their life style. Only thing I can tell you is you are not alone. We all are going through the same journey. Wish you a speedy recovery.

  11. Anyone here got positive results from the oregano oil therapy for a longer period of time? I am not expecting it to cure herpes as there is no cure for it. But as long as it keeps the virus dormant and there are no ob or shedding for a very long time worth doing. Looking forward to some positive first hand experience.

  12. I still haven't experienced any ob as such so don't know how painful it will be. But the psychological impact I am having is a mountain for me. And for sure I don't want anyone to go through this stress in their life. So its definitely yes for me.

  13. I also have the same question. All literature says 1 out of 6 in US are having hsv2. But then again they say 80% of the infected people are not aware that they are infected. If 80% of the infected people are not aware that they are infected then based on what this conclusion was made 1 out of 6 are infected! Also based on what data this conclusion was made that 80% of infected people are not aware that they are infected. 🤷‍♂️

  14. Thanks for all the support. Yea getting used to it slowly. Problem is I am not sure how to proceed with future. For sure in my country if I tell someone I have herpes they wont date me, marriage is far away. Whenever I think about future it worries me like anything.

  15. Since I got exposed to thesetwo weeks back my doctor had suggested to go for pcr blood test to identify if I have hsv 1 or 2. My hsv igm came as 3.5 and igg 0.5.

I got my report today which says negative for both hsv1 and 2. How authentic is pcr blood test? I dont have any lesion which can be tested. Also I am from India so can't go for WB test. Any feedback on pcr blood test will be helpful.

I feel like my body will get used to them if I keep taking them everyday. I just try to look after myself and take them if needed . I just take good  natural immune boosters and try and stay a little active.

So far I haven't had an outbreak or felt symptoms since late December but there was some major stress goin on then so stay away from that for sure.

Which hsv you have if its ok to ask? Also what symtoms you used to have earlier? I am still trying to figure out what are the symptoms related to this which I may be experiencing. I am also going through lots of stress. I hardly sleep for 4 hours now.

  17. I am also looking for answer for the same. Can swimming or intense strength training trigger an outbreak? I understand it varies from individual to individual, so will like to hear all your experiences both positive and negative and how you all managed. New to this. 10 days now and currently clouded with so many questions and thoughts.
