  2. Hi. I was diagnosed with HSV 2 from a culture swab of a sore on my labia. I'm sure I got it when I had an unprotected sexual encounter a two weeks prior. The antibodies did not show up in my blood tests because the infection was too recent. However, I have a bump on my lip. I did preform oral sex on the person a week after our unprotected sex (neither one of us knew he had it) and the bump appeared last night. I haven't had any if the predrone systems that I had with the first outbreak, it's just a bump. And I'm not sure if it's a cause for concern. I won't know if I have HSV1 until the antibodies form but because he had HSV2, can that transfer to my mouth and become HSV1 or can it remain the same and be HSV2 orally as well?
  3. I disclosed to someone I had a relationship with before this whole fiasco happened and he withdrew for a week. He said it was ok when I first told him even though I was a blubbering mess but he didn't contact me for 6 days after I told him. He finally reached out and by this time I was composed enough to finally tell him everything that I've read about HSV2 and he said he already knows all this information and that he just needed to think and he's ok to move forward. People just need to process. Do their research and process. The same way we had to. It takes different people different amounts of time to come to terms with it so I wouldn't stress it too much. Just wait. Breathe and relax and hope for the best.
  4. Ok. So I was diagnosed last week with HSV2 and I can't help but to think I have HIV too. I hope I'm psyching myself out because I literally have no symptoms of HIV and I've read about the transmission rates for HIV but I also had no symptoms besides the lesions so I'm worried. My tongue is kinda swollen but I don't know if it's from my medication or what. And then I also figure that if I was infected at the same time, my symptoms would be doubled, right? I don't know what to think. And three months are kind of a long wait so if anyone has experience, please let me know.
  5. So I should just say that I'm virtually shedding all of the time because I don't know when I am but the medicine will cut it in half? Because as of right now, the blisters are healed (I only had three) but the skin is still red and irritated. I'm not sure if I'm still having an "outbreak" per say or if it's just prodrone which can also indicate the virus is active. I may just be overthinking too much as well so I'm not too sure what's happening here.
  6. Hey, Ive been recently diagnosed as well but I've been combing the internet for remedies and what not in case I have a second outbreak. Someone on tumblr mentioned a coconut/tea tree oil remedy. Basically you melt down the coconut oil, apply a few drops of tea tree oil, freeze it, and run it on the affected area when you need relief. I tried it even though I wasn't having an active outbreak and it felt nice so I would give that a try
  7. Hi guys. I'm new here. I was positively diagnosed with HSV2 a few days ago after a week or so of worrying. I've been combing this forum almost everyday and although I understand the majority of it, I'm still not grasping the concept of asymptomatic shedding and transmission rates. I understand that asymptomatic means there's no visual outbreak but the virus is still active but how does this tie into transmission rates. As in am I still as contagious as I would be if I had an outbreak, outbreak? Is the 4% transmission rate with "abstaining from sex with an active outbreak" (I'm a woman btw) tied into this? What about with a condom. My first outbreak was centered on my labia minora so the condom will undoubedtly be covering his shaft as to not come into contact with it. Also I am on daily suppressive medicine. Gives me a peace of mind. I know that cuts transmission rates in half but again, how does that tie into asymptomatic shedding? I'm sorry if my question doesn't make sense. i'm trying to ask the best way I can so I can relay this information on to need to know parties. Basically I'm asking how does asymptomatic shedding work? I need all the facts because I'll be damned if I pass this on to someone and have them feel the way I felt these past few weeks.
