Hi Everyone,

I'm Broken, or at least that's how I feel. I contracted HSV2 from a guy that I had been dating for 3 months at the time.

In Feb 2014, I had a horrific outbreak on my vaginal and perineum area. When I mentioned to my boyfriend of 3 months at the time, that 2 out of 3 doctors said it looked like Herpes, things fell apart between us two. That was until he got his results, and through a blood test he tested positive for both HSV1 and HSV2. I knew for a fact that I contracted the virus through him because I was test prior to us dating.

After, we both found out we had the virus we agree to not point any fingers and to work things out.

Now just under 2 months after the diagnosis we broke up, he say he needs space.

I am feeling lost. I don't know where to pick up the pieces. When we agreed to work through whatever the thought of me carrying this virus has merely disappeared but now it's all I think about.

Will I ever be loved?

Why wasn't I given a choice?

Why me?

Sincerely,

Broken

@RunningMiles22

First, hello and welcome!

I have to keep this short - trying to get out of the office so I can get home in time for a run, but I will come back later and add more...and I know others will chime in. You've found what may be the best support forum in the world for Herpes...and you will soon see you are FAR from alone in this AND you will survive it all.

Your ex is probably going through the same feelings by the way... he may be dealing with guilt, shame, and all the other crap that comes with H thanks to the unjustified stigma. If you are talking, perhaps you can steer him here... to be honest we need more men on here to help level out some of the conversations!

Anyway, as for yourself, my first suggestion is to read all you can on here. There are TONS of success stories of people dating H- partners, as well as the journeys of many who came on here thinking their life was over (and even considering ending it) who are now in happy, loving relationships.

A good place to start is the FAQ section (at the top of the Discussion topics). and I'll post some success stories so you can get at least a small amount of hope going. ;)

You will be fine. I've had this almost all my life and I've had a great life, 2 beautiful daughters, a 20 yr marriage and 2 BF's since. Yes, it's a nuisance but you will find that if anything, having H makes you look at life differently... I know that may not make sense right now but once you read all the stories on here, you may understand better

(((HUGS)))

And finally, one of our most recent, and perhaps biggest success stories. @thisisgoingtobeok had a rough start, but she's found love this week :)
