Can my daughter catch herpes? Please answer ASAP

My daughter is only 3.... And we took a shower at the same time using the same washcloth. We came home from the beach and had sand everywhere so it was just easier. But now I'm freaking out!!! Can she get it from that? If she catches it I don't know what I will do!!!

Calm down and BREATHE!

 

1) you can only get H with SKIN to SKIN contact - and ONLY with the area where you get your OB's.

 

2) H doesn't live long at all outside the body - and soap and such will kill it quickly

 

3) I have two grown daughters... I never even thought about cross infection because at the time there wasn't much out there to freak people out. Both are H free .... and they are in their 20's

 

So go have a good stiff drink and calm down... she'll be fine ;)

She has diarrhea and is red ... Please please please don't tell me I have her herpes!!! I will just die!!! I mean we only shared a wash cloth but I made sure I cleaned the sand out really well... I'm so scared!!!

I have had h for 18 years bathed, showered and swam with my daughters. Although, I do try and keep my wash cloths away from them out of respect, they have grabbed my towel, wash cloth, and scrunchy by accident. I also felt a little guilt when I realized they did this, but nothing ever came of it...just guilt. Honestly, I was diagnosed so long ago and knew nothing about shedding. I just assumed as long as I didn't have an OB at the time it was fine. So much easier to bathe your baby in the tub with you at times and a great bonding experience. Rest easy Mamma!

Odds are she has heat stroke or sunburn..... like Dolphin said, we had our kids when we "didn't know better", shared all kinds of towels and washcloths and such, and our kids are fine :)

Thank you ladies. I just worry so much about her because she already has health issues and I could not function if I knew I gave her herpes... She was screaming in pain last night but I guess it could be from the diarrhea... I'm so scared for her!

Then TAKE HER TO THE DOCTOR if she is in that much pain.... this could be something that is far more dangerous than Herpes... like appendicitis ... :/

She is ok today and said that she no longer hurts. But thank you! I will definitely look into that....
