HSV2 Orally?? How safe is oral sex?

Hey guys ... I talked with a doctor today and she told me is very possible to get HSV2 orally and that the outbreaks are usually pretty bad. When researching it I cannot come up with any solid data, and everything points to the fact that it is rare to occur. I was wondering what people think about this.

 

On another point ... if I have this how safe is oral sex? What can I tell my partners ... I have read the information here, but I am confused because of what my Dr. told me today.

Your Dr is incorrect... only 1% of ALL Oral Herpes is HSV2 ... so I think that the odds are pretty darned low..

 

However, it IS possible to get it orally... we HAVE had 2 people on here with it ... but remember we have THOUSANDS of people on here every day.

 

Perhaps your Dr has some reason to not want people to have oral sex? :/

 

The main thing would be to be very careful about not playing during an OB ... and if your partner has open cuts on their mouth, or a compromised immune system, I'd avoid it as well..... no need to push your luck ... ;)
