First outbreak is healing in addition to a whole new outbreak?

Recommended Posts

I started showing symptoms of my first outbreak on the 16th. I knew what it was almost right away, went to several clinics which told me they did not test for Herpes. It took me 4 days, finally I gave in and just went to the hospital ER claiming pain. Once I was told what it was, I was both relieved to finally have an answer but also completely devistated. I was perscribed Acyclovir, to be taken 3x's a day. Since I've been taking it, my outbreak has started to clear up. However now, I've started my period. I'm starting to get minor tingles with heavy itchyness. Does this mean that I'm already having another outbreak on top of my healing outbreak?! I'm so frustrated. Idk if I can take the burning pain when I pee again. I know everyone experiences this differently. I just want some insight.

To top it off, cleaning myself has been quite a horrible adventure. When I first discovered I had it, it was as if I've never bathed in my life. I'm completely fearful of touching anything down there then touching anything else anywhere else. I purchased had soap for the shower in the event that I do so I can quickly wash my hands and then scrub my conditioner out. Am I being ridiculous? I can never seem to get myself clean enough down there.

After your first OB, it can take time for some to calm down - down there. Just because you get funny feelings, doesn't mean you'll get an OB. I get funny feelings all the time, w no physical signs. W that said, hormones from a period is a trigger for some. It took a while to stop being s trigger for me, but dknt worry, it won't be anything close to your first. You'll be able to go about your business like any other say w the recurrents for teh most part.

Do you no longer have meds? You need to continue your meds. Also take daily Epsom salt baths, w lots if Epsom salt. I never had pain again after my primary, when peeing and I had a horrific OB, have symptoms constantly, even on meds and I can assure you, I'm just fine.

You are being over the top, but we are like that often when First diagnosed. The first 4 months, be careful about touching sores and then anywhere else, w out washing your hands. After you build antibodies you'll be fine. No reason to be paranoid though. Same protocol to follow, as it should be pre H, which is don't touch anywhere down there and touching anywhere else, especial the eyes. You're not supposed to do this w out H anyway, so shouldn't be a major chnage in your life. Just relax and stop treating yourself like a leper, because you're not.

Periods are often a trigger for us ladies... but the "good" thing is if you know this, you can take a double dose of Valtrex before (or whatever method you use to control your OB's) your period and often that's all it takes to mange things.

The links below may help you with controlling it, and I'm including one on the paranoia that folks experience and the reality of dealing with H in the early days. Simple answer - soap will kill it, as will exposure to the air/drying out the area... so normal hygiene should be enough.
