Can herpes transmit through underwear?

Can a person get herpes on their fingers or transmit it to another area of their body from touching a woman who has genital herpes over her underwear? Thanks everybody!

I have seen people get herpes Whitlow, but not from rubbing through underwear. I have once on a forum, seen a guy who was dry humping w a girl and they both had underwear on. She kept getting weird about him taking her underwear off and he got H... He mentioned some other stuff that happened, this was like over a yr ago, so I don't remember verbatim. At first, I didn't believe it, but he explained just how heavy the grinding was and how wet everything was.... Do that's the only time I've seen it happen.. Took me a bit to believe it, but I suspect she had an active OB and is why she was getting weird about it, but you know as well as I do, you can have underwear on and it stretch to make some penetration in the entrance. .

"Touching" - not likely. "Grinding" - well, as 2legit said, grind hard enough and get wet enough (and likely causing micro tears in the skin because of the rubbing on the fabric) and you may up your risk ... but in general, you should be pretty safe. :)
