A month later, still feeling sick

Recommended Posts

Hello! I am a 21 year old female who was diagnosed with genital HSV1 a month ago. I have only had the initial outbreak that caused me to go to the doctor for testing. The medications I was given worked wonderfully to get rid of the OB. However, I have consistently felt sick with symptoms similar to what I felt before the outbreak. I have a hacking cough that produced dark green mucus, a sore throat, and a stuffed or runny nose with dark mucus as well. Does anyone know why I am still feeling this way? Since I am feeling this way constantly, how am I supposed to recognize these initial signs of an outbreak in the future?

Thank you!

I'm a little confused. Those do not sounds herpes related to me. Dark green mucus indicates an infection, which is probably bacterial and not herpes related. You may have gotten sick before your outbreak, but I wouldn't link the two other than the fact that herpes can show up when we aren't feeling well.

There could be many causes: allergies, sinuses, bronchitis, pneumonia, etc. I would get that taken care of and then work on building up your immune system. I doubt those symptoms have anything to do with your outbreaks. Generally, signs of genital herpes outbreaks are itching or tingling in the area in which your outbreaks are.
