It boils down to exposure and the immune system. The more diligent we become about exposing kids to things, the weaker their immune system is. Now that we've become a society that doesn't get out much (Playing outside, etc), and very much focused on social media rather than social interaction, I bet the stats will change yet again, and not in a good way.

 

(I also think about the chicken pox vaccine lowering the amount of exposure to cases of active chicken pox (which bolsters the immune system) and wonder how that will effect adults later in life when it comes to shingles- but that's a whole nother herpes forum haha)
