Recent infection or established infection

Recommended Posts

I was recently diagnosed with HSV 2 via IGg blood test. My HSV 1 result was < 0.90. My HSV 2 result was 3.04.

5 weeks prior to testing, I had unprotected sex with a friend (less than 5 minutes).

12-16 weeks prior to testing, I had unprotected sex with my then boyfriend (now ex). We had sex 2-3 times a month.

Is my infection a new infection? Did I get this from my friend? Did I get it from my ex??

Background info- I am a female. No symptoms or outbreaks.

Hey there! Unfortunately, you won't be able to get a straight answer to your questions simply based on those values. Because of the nature of the virus, timing is impossible to figure out (unless you have another recent test that showed lower numbers to compare to).

What does it mean if your number was in the 20’s
