Once positive for herpes will you always test POSITIVE

Recommended Posts

Yes, once infected with herpes you will always be positive for herpes, but unfortunately, some of the blood tests out there give false positives and false negatives, so you won't always *test* positive for herpes. Which blood test did you get? If you got a culture, then that should have come back positive, unless there wasn't enough of an outbreak to get an adequate culture to test. For blood tests to be accurate, you should either get the IgG test or Western Blot (WB is most reliable) and wait at least 3 months after initial exposure to get a reliable result.
