Oral sex between outbreaks

My husband and I have been married for 22 years and I was diagnosed with herpes 2 last year. My question is can you give/ receive oral sex in between outbreaks without protection and can you have sex between outbreaks without protection?

There is always a risk.  HSV2 prefers the genital area, however it can be contracted orally, though rare.  Genital to genital contact, even without an outbreak can pass the virus.  Daily suppressant therapy can reduce these risks, but not eliminate them.  Are you worried about transmission?  May I ask if your husband has been tested?

I'm worried about when you have oral sex and then have intercourse after that if it's transferred to your mouth or genitals. No, my husband has not been tested.  We're just assuming he has it since I do.  Is it necessary that he get tested?

She's probably asking because if he also has it... then you can have oral and sex all you want and transmission to foreign areas will be low.

With H I wouldn't assume anything!
It would make sense for your husband to get tested & if he is positive, like Redfaith417 said, you pretty much can do what you like but if he's negative, you will have some decisions to make.
