  1. @Marc C

nope, not a single soul (except you all)...

I kind of feel like @MarsAttack . It may help me initially but idk if I want everyone knowing and keeping it in the back of their mind. Not that I’m afraid they’ll think of me differently, I just don’t know if I want them knowing. One time I told my mother I think someone put something in my drink one night while I was out with my girlfriends and now EVERYTIME I’m going somewhere/doing something I feel like she warns me/worries...I don’t want this to always be on her mind as well (sounds weird I know)

I don’t really plan on dating anytime soon but when I do I’ll obviously disclose. It’s just not on my radar right now

So, I read a lot about the virus and check in often to this forum for the support I need right now. Sigh.

  2. Hi there...the part of your post where you were surprised by your third outbreak rings true with me...I was diagnosed in February with what I think was my initial outbreak...It was one tiny spot but I was SUPER tired and felt very worn out and not myself...I also had groin pain on the side that has the spot...

my second spot however, two months later didn’t have any of those symptoms...I was surprised to see the spot...which only actually hurt for 1-2 days thank god. Now I feel like I’m just waittting to see when the next one happens...sigh

  3. I was just diagnosed in March via swab...you’re not alone...I’m already feeling better mentally (though definitelyyyyyyy not completely)...how old are you? I’m wondering if age makes a difference in the way we al react to the diagnosis mentally...

  4. You probably already have HSV1 orally...most people do. You can get a blood test to see if you have antibodies for it but if you just newly acquired it antibodies might not show up for 3 months. Either way, HSV1 is super common and most people get the virus as a child...are you just curious or are you worried about it?

  5. I was recently diagnosed with ghsv2 and am having some of your same feelings 😔

Having anxiety coupled with this virus isn’t a good mix. I’ve also always been a hypochondriac which just adds to it.

I will say though, I think you have the better of the two strains..:I believe reoccurrence for HSV1 is much less and much harder to transmit. Hugs

  6. @TBarr swab...I had a TINY mark that stung and freaked out and called my gyno...who gave me an appointment for the following week...I called back three times begging to come in that day...on the third call they finally said ok come in but you’re going to have to wait around for the doctor...so I went...the dr looked at it and said that’s a VERY tiny mark, he’s not at all sold that it’s anything...he would not have even noticed it unless I pointed it out... this does not look herpetic but we’ll swab it anyway (so he did...very roughly)...and sure enough...positive for HSV2 a few days later via phone call...at that visit he was trying to reassure me (which I took) that this does not look like a typical first OB...most have many lesions etc etc. so I actually felt better leaving but then the phone call came a few days later.

  7. I’ve only recently been diagnosed with ghsv2 this past February...and have been reading reading reading non-stop since. Most of what I’ve read has calmed me down EXCEPT when I comb this forum and find so many people experiencing MORE frequent and MORE severe OB’s as time goes on. It scares me!

When I start to feel okay with wrapping my head around this diagnosis my mind starts “what-if-ing”. What if I’m one of those people who’s OB’s never stop? What if mine get worse and worse as time goes on?

Its consumed my thoughts and life...I know I should be telling myself there’s nothing I can do and just live life but I’m curious as to what percentage of people actually get MORE ob’s as time goes on or is the norm that the virus calms down...?

I’m currently on my second OB...I guess it’s the same as the first, one side...mild I’d say? Same spot as the first just without groin pain on the one side this time...I think the mark for this one is lasting longer than the first OB so my mind is going crazy. I haven’t told ANYONE about my diagnosis and do not plan to, so this is my only place to discuss what’s on my mind 😔 Any insights? Thank you ❤️

  8. It sounds like a newly acquired HSV 1 infection...your body just needs some time to adapt to tame it down. Also, what seems like a huge embarrassing spot to you most likely isn’t too noticeable to others. Be kind to yourself ❤️

Give your system a chance to adapt...from what I’ve read, I believe it takes your body a few months to build up anti-bodies. It kept your HSV2 in check, it will keep this one in check too!

Also, just a natural remedy (if your brave enough 😬 ) 91% alcohol on a q-tip...hold it there for 30 seconds a couple times a day. I’ve recently done it to a ghsv2 small spot and it STUNG but then almost instantly (within a day) healed. I know I’ve read that alcohol does not do anything except burn but some people swear by it...worth a shot 🤷🏻‍♀️

  9. Hi there...I was diagnosed with ghsv 2 in February...when I say it has COMSUMED my every thought...I literally mean it. I’ve been divorced for three years now because my husband was unfaithful. I believe I acquired this from a man I have been casually physically seeing for two years (whom I’m not seeing anymore). I have a 4 year old son. I have ALWAYS had anxiety and have been a hypochondriac...this diagnosis is not mixing well with those two attributes of mine. I’m so scared of what this virus is going to do to my body...I’m paranoid of everything twinge or mark I have on me. I typically do very physically demanding and advanced workouts, and I’m afraid to or have lost my drive to partake in those. I do not feel present or myself. I have not told a single person about this and I’m not sure I want to. I’m reading about people worrying if they’ll ever find love again, and I’m worried why I’m not even thinking about that...I just want to feel myself right now. I’d love a buddy ❤️
