hello notperfect. others im sure will chime in, others with more experience than I. first off welcome and breathe. sounds like the doctor was suggesting suppressive therapy. that's where you take an antiviral daily to help lower your Outbreaks ( heretofore known as OBs) and lessen your chance to pass along this little critter, its usually for those who have herpes who are in a relationship. the type thing is up to you, other know more about that than I. I do know that if you have 1 or 2 and they are in the opposite biosphere they don't tend to shed or cause OBs as much. I have the big number 2 myself and its obvious where it likes to cause me grief. don't give up on sex with your hubby. there is more than intercourse by the way :) he may want to get tested but in all honesty if he is still with you it may not be an issue for him. I mean how long have you been intimate and he hadn't knowingly caught it? im thinking he has been there for 26 years he is in it for the long haul. on suppressive you just need to be aware of OBs and be careful , wear protection. and theres no reason to not love yourself, you did nothing wrong.

sorry dancer but as they say in Missouri " show me" I just don't see it out there. I see superficiality ruling the day ( and ive been told im a pretty good looking feller, I have all my teeth). I would never conceive of sex on a first date, that's bar pickups where its expected to possibly happen but not on an actual " lets meet for coffee or a drink, etc" thing. @ dancer, I think id rather pay out of pocket for some non general tests with single payer than have zero health care and everything is out of pocket. I cant afford to get even crappy "obamacare" with zero RX and an 8k deductible, so I guess I just die if I get sick, welcome to the richest and most "advanced" culture on the planet. my states governor became a multi-multi millionaire running a health care company that made most of its money off medicare (payed well to shareholders also) AND had the largest fine in history against it for fraud. how in the hell is that more efficient? medicare did everything it would have done but someone milked off the top enough to profit the lazy investor class and the ceo, cfo etc. it might be the beer but shits gotta change or we need to bring back the guillotine.

ok, im going to tell you all something about an issue with meds I had. just to make you aware. I use to take allergy meds daily. my morning ritual was, get up, grab a cookie or such to remove what the baby dragons who were potty training in my mouth overnight left. take my meds and have my coffee, then my er morning constitutional. well I also had a septic system. the septic backed up. when they came to pump it there were literally hundreds of undigested allergy pills in the tank. by taking the meds on a semi empty stomach and then having the coffee do what it does I was pushing the meds straight out. so now I always wait till that part of my morning is done before taking any meds. I know this is somewhat odd and a little TMIish but given the supplements and meds people on this forum take I thought it pertinent.

my local clinic does rapid HIV test for free weekly, they told me the latency is @ 3 months, hence why im being celibate ( yea as if I have a choice) till then ( if not longer) I had one the day I found out about herpes and am waiting the full 3 months even tho it could go sooner from my last partner but I just want absolute peace of mind. the type specific blood test will say what but not where and has a latency of 3 months I believe, so that means you have to be non sexual ( at least no intercourse, even protected and no oral either way) for 3 months then be tested. if you test now that only counts up till 3 or so months ago. and remember you have to ask for the herpes test, its not part of the std panel. Im not trying to shill for anyone but there is a private lab company out there that does tests, no doctors visit so that cost isn't added in, a good thing for those of us who make too much for a handout and not enough to afford health insurance. they have an STD panel from hell, HIV, H1&2, Gon, clym,shyp,hep ( a couple cant remember) and something else and its like 150$. which is what the doctors office wanted for only a herpes blood test. its called ( and I hope this is ok adrail) anylabtestnow.

so this peroxide stuff really seems to do the trick. I saw some little bumps forming in a place they were before, I nuked it with peroxide, let it sit for a bit and patted it dry and waalaa gone the next day. my post shower ritual involves spraying my fun area with peroxide. it inexpensive and hell on earth for viruses and germs. ive been looking for info on it being an indicator for shedding, the jury is still out from what I could find mucking thru all the herpes related crap on the web. its now my go to cleaner as spraying on a surface, letting it sit then wiping and its disinfected plus all the little nasties cant build up resistance, bwaahahhahah ( strokes cat). and its 100% safe unlike bleach. its only water with an extra oxygen atom. anyone else find it helps?

im thinking my back pain is part of my prodomes. the one in my left side almost feels like the numerous kidney stones ive had only different, doesn't increase, doesn't come on with caffeine, sort of builds throughout the day. and I must say, in this case id be happy if it is prodome cause id prefer an OB to another kidney stone. ive had those go 2 weeks before giving birth to a bouncing baby rock ( and im a guy, we aren't designed to give birth) { and before I get flamed, ive had women who have had babies tell me kidney stones were worse}

I got my test, blood, type specific from anylabtestnow. they have offices you go to. look them up. no im not a shill for them but every doctors office wanted 150 for the test plus the visit fee, it was 49 or 59 out the door, took 10 minutes and I got result by email. now theres no quack to cluck with but from what ive heard they can be somewhat lacking in social grace.

Dss, when I had my initial OB I thought, as did the splint and pill man, that it was MONO, which is in the herpes family ( why do I picture a mob family??) by the way. I was about to describe my ordeal but didn't want to bring you down. it took a few weeks for me to "get right" (some question if I ever was). most critters in the H family make you feel drained for some time, probably because they are all life long and the body has to adjust to its new reality. you will eventually feel better. oh when I was having issues eating what save my life ( literally) was muscle milk, lots of protein in a small amount and emergen-C look around the vitamins orange is best. I had lost so much weight so fast ( ive since found it) my body had gone catabolic and was consuming itself. rest when you can, get something in your tummy, don't over stress. you will get better, it just takes some time. hugs.

Amanda, first off, listen to adrial. from what I understand herpes it isn't good when exposed to the air, hates oxygen so he, not only on top of all the stuff Adrial said would have had to be a ninja to get his hand to his privates quick enough. and don't settle. there are plenty of men who would accept you as you are, some are h+ themselves, some not. if he truly accepted you and trusted you he would be fully intimate with you. I admit that im having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that he has no issue with performing oral yet wont have protected intercourse? seems counter to how most people would think. of course I may have hit on something here, you have thought you maybe had prodome but went ahead and didn't tell him? are you on suppressive? have you had H a while? maybe he isn't sure that you know enough about your OBs and he has picked up on it? its not, im not sure if I was having an OB, its I was sure I wasn't. not to bust your chops, as we are all trying to figure this thing out. hell every itch on my body I think is H, and I itch a lot, just typing that made my beard itch.

first off, change your handle. it does you no good to look at that everytime you log on. second it will get better, just look at some of the veterans say. don't beat yourself up. H will help you weed out all the dumbasses and find the ones who really like you for YOU! I don't know what your first post said as its gone now and I hope that's a good sign. that you thought better of some of the negative things you were feeling about yourself. there is light at the tunnel. Herpes is certainly not something to go live in the woods or hurt oneself over, nor others for that matter. breathe in, breathe out. you will find love, you will grow old, you will get married ( if you want to ) you will have babies, they will grow up and annoy you, worry you, make you laugh. you will find other jobs, lose jobs, lose contact with people, regain contact from old friends, have bad new years, have wonderful Halloweens, find God, lose God ( not necessarily in that order) do I need to continue???? in other words, life will go on as if this never occurred! big bear hug!!

some could also be that the antibiotics are messing with your probiotics. antivirals work differently than antibiotics. antibiotics are not really suppose to be long term because they kill everything. antiviral, well first we have no beneficial viruses in us and second they do something internally to virus cells making it very hard to gain resistance. it could also be the stress helping all the badies .

there is probably a better chance of an accidental cure than a searched for one. ie warfarin was rat poison but because of its blood thinning capabilities it is used for people with blocked arteries. didn't Viagra start as a cholesterol med? ( if it was its own research it was a colossal waste of money and complete proof of big pharma wanting something profitable not helpful). there is something out there, nature has a cure for every disease, the problem may well be we in our hubris destroy its corner of the world before we find it.

I reread my post and didn't see anything that said herpes evolves into hiv. was a bit confused, would have been a helluva typo. dancer, I remember seeing somewhere a pair of "shorts" for men to wear to help prevent the transmission of Herpes and warts ( im done with abbreviations for now, lol) basically tighter rubber undies with an opening for, well you get the picture.

ok, ill chime in. first off listen to dancer and don't worry about it, if it comes it comes. there is research going on, bill gates has upped the ante by mentioning the relationship between HIV and herpes, in Africa for instance its almost universal that anyone who had HIV has herpes AND it increases the chance of getting HIV. Gates told them, if you don't fix this you will have a hard time fixing HIV. stopping it moving is the first step. there is a phase 2 human trial going on for a therapeutic vaccine, however, IT DOES NOT CURE!!!! it lowers viral loads to the point of non transmission, meaning you wont be able to pass it along. however it may be a decade before it makes it to market, IF it makes it to market. and big pharma makes a ton off antivirals and probably likes that. I did read about an Australian firm ( might be the same one doing trails, ones head gets overloaded when doing H research on the web) looking into it because they estimate it would be a 6 Billion dollar market. hoping for a cure is fine, putting all your eggs in that basket isn't living. there is some very interesting research into herpes ( even modifying it to kill cancer) I will look for those links soon, I have my son this weekend so H isn't a high priority. they have found how H tricks the body into thinking its part of the ganglion, how it makes our cells drop their defenses, etc. there is also, minor, research into medical marijuana doing something to inhibit the H virus from erupting. it makes the virus to lazy and hungry and it just wants to hang out in its parents basement playing xbox all day eating oreos. ( sorry had to, there is that research going on ) you can bing herpes research just be careful, lots of ignorance and false cures out there. only read on the research at universities and medical centers. again tho, if you hold your breath waiting for a cure, you will suffocate.

generic, when I went to planned parenthood they gave me a sheet on lysine. it showed lysine abundant and deficient foods. it only seems to work for some, why who knows. I take 1000mg a day. 1 pill in am 1 with dinner. a good multi yay gummie vitamins and I drink a emergen-C daily ( I do that mainly because I work outdoors in florida). my OBs seem fairly mild, maybe because my initial almost killed me and gave me ( temporary) bells palsy the universe is balancing things out for me. some of my blisters have shown, popped and healed in a day, other show, pop and s leave a red discoloration for 2 weeks, tho no scab after a couple days. go figure. llysine is @6$ a bottle of 500mg and it would last @ 40 days.
