  1. Actually the way he is acting @FLNewH, he might be the one who passed it on to you. That's one of the nastiest things about h, nobody knows crap except here on this blog.

Looking forward to reading Your Story :)

  2. I'm sorry @CityofAngels, I don't mean to imply that anyone would single you out. It's simply because you clearly state that you would have nothing to do with an h+ partner. If anyone ever wanted to be with you they would have to hide their status and just risk it. It's the fear of being rejected that leads some to take the non-disclosure route.

  3. But it still sucks that you're in this situation now. It's not what you would have chosen. I'm in the same spot. I KNEW better but persisted and placed my trust in someone who was not trustworthy. Sigh. Hang in there my friend!

  4. @CityofAngels I appreciate your perspective and I (h+) also struggle with the opposing attitudes of it's-merely-a-bothersome-skin-infection v. it's-an-intimate-relationship-deal-breaker. I'm saddened that so many people here acquired this virus in an environment of either non-disclosure or ignorance. And I'm heartbroken that so many of these same people would never conceive of putting their potential partners in the same position. Particularly with somebody like you @CityofAngles, a less scrupulous person might decide, "Fuck it, I'm not in out break mode, I'm just going to risk it. If my partner does contract it, he/she will never be able to prove it was me."

  5. @Theo1824 I'm so sorry you're having to deal with all of this. My giver denied at first (I knew it was him) saying he didn't have h and no no no. He also seemed oddly nonchalant like, "So what are you gonna do kill yourself? Think positive!"

Much much later he confessed the truth. I'm glad you got the acyclovir right away. I went 15 days before I was diagnosed meaning the viral amplification and seeding got WAY ahead of my immune system. Sigh.

You've got a lot to deal with right now. Make sure to put caring for yourself high on the priority list!

  6. I'd be interested in tabulating my own costs to the system since this h+ infection starting with actual outlays for medical treatment, lost productivity, FUCKING EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, doctor visits, co-pays, insurance pays, ongoing prescription medication, yada yada.

Today I heard more insight on exactly how the drug companies are in collusion with the HSV viruses: GlaxoSmithkline (GSK) made $1.8 billion on Valtrex in 2008. Is that right? Dang they make a lot of dough on that "suppressive" drug. Hmmmmmm...............

  7. Oh gosh @sw85 you've just been diagnosed and you're already trying to make disclosures and such, that's just waaayyyyy too much to ask of any human being. First you need to take care of YOURSELF. Treat yourself as if you have mono (save family of viruses in fact) and give your immune system a chance to mount its defense. Plus, chances are you're still contagious so please just chill and take some time for yourself right now.

Disclosure is the huge thing all of us struggle with once we have the infection under control and want to go on with our lives, and our sex lives in particular! For now your priority is your health. If you're newly infected a blood test will not show up as positive just yet. Hang in there!
