The herpes healing process is different for everyone. There is no set number of weeks or months. It all depends on how you treat yourself through this process. Are you allowing yourself to heal or are you continually re-injuring yourself? It's okay to be scared/angry/depressed, but don't take all that out on yourself. You deserve to be nurtured by yourself. You deserve to be accepted by yourself. You deserve to be loved by yourself. This process can take much longer than needed based on what kind of relationship you have to yourself. @Sab123 thx for asking this question. I was wondering that too. In my 'pilot mode' of driving home today, i thought to myself, "realistically, i've gone through the 5 stages of grief but its so hard to ACCEPT H. @Adrial, thx for posting the link to the healing emotional process bc I was mentally checking off what what stages Ive been thru. My prob is ACCEPTING this. I know I have it I know all the statistics I know it cant be cured but it can be managed esp if I take care of my health but its so hard to accept. Im a fighter and I feel if I accept, I give into this dis-ease. I feel like Im forced to live in symbiosis with a parasite...How can H and I live in harmony? It sounds too much of an oxymoron to me. Perhaps, Im still in a bit of a denial stage and anger...its too hard to ACCEPT this. I know I will find peace and I pray that I do but I have noticed this dis-ease does seem to act up with my emotions. Idk just had to vent

Hey tNd, there isn't a chronological progression through all the stages then you're done. :) You can bounce around from stage to stage. You may even get through to acceptance for a few years, then some sort of a negative disclosure experience might set you back to anger. And since you're venting, it probably does mean you're back to the anger stage. It's not about getting to the end. It's about being open to where you are and realizing it's a process. Don't try to figure out how to get to acceptance. Live your life fully and happily, taking care of yourself along the way and acceptance will happen as a result of that. Focusing on herpes itself will simply serve to make herpes that much bigger and scarier than it deserves to be. Learn as much as you can about herpes so you can then let it go as something that's just something you have and not something that's taking up a lot of your brain space. That's the key.
