Primary herpes outbreak - Excruciating

(I feel like this is kind of TMI, but I really want to know if this specific thing has happened to other people here.)

My first OB started on Monday. It wasn't too bad at first, some pain and a couple blisters, since then it has only gotten worse. My sores are on my inner labia, from the clit to the urethra, and I noticed that it has started to "stick" to my outer labia when it tries to scab over. Whenever I move, it feels like it's tearing and breaking open, causing the absolute WORST pain I have ever felt ever. Should I put a layer of gauze or loose cotton in between the sores and my outer labia to keep it from doing this?

I'm taking acyclovir, and epsom salt baths at least 2-3 times a day.

I had my first OB last week and was in excruciating pain with 20+ blisters in my vaginal area. I could barely urinate without screaming in pain. The only thing that helped was putting 5% lidocaine ointment in the area and using a squeeze bottle to pour warm water while urinating. The valtrex helped with the pain after 2 days and my blisters are healing after a week on meds. A very miserable experience. I couldn't even using toilet paper and found blotting the area dry with a washcloth a better choice. Hope u feel better soon

Spooks and MsJinx..

Welcome! Sorry you are having such a bad first OB ...but DO know it does get better.

There are a lot of discussions with lots of ideas of what you can try - different people have different results with the various suggestions

Couple quick suggestions then I will add links from previous discussions:

With the Epsom Salts bath, fill the tub so it just covers your legs, then sit in the water and put 3-5 handfuls of the Epsom Salts right between your legs so it's concentrated there....it may sting a bit but that's because its drying them up...

Then follow up with Aloe or Calendula or Zinc cream if you are having problems with the scabs drying and sticking to your skin/underwear. I personally prefer to keep the area open and dry (ie no cream) but my OB's are minor now....the lidocaine cream helps some and you may even get a stronger prescription from your Dr if you call them up.

The last thing is to pee in the bathtub or shower - it dissipates the urine so it doesn't sting as much ....

Here are the other conversations for you to browse... (((HUGS)))
