Does shingles vaccine help herpes?

I went to by OB/GYN the other day and he suggested I get the shingles vaccine. He said he has spoke to other doctors who have found the vaccine helps with other problems (I can only assume herpes). However, the drugstore won't give me the vaccine since I am under 50. Has anyone else had this and has it helped in any way?

The Shingles vaccine is for Herpes Zoster , which is a different strain of Herpes and thus is not likely to help HSV (Herpes Simplex). You should ask the Dr exactly why he felt you need it, what else it *might* help, and then do some research to see if there is anything to support his theory...

Thanks. I'm really starting to lose faith in him. I saw him the other day for another issue and he prescribed some meds. After a few days I didn't feel that great so I called the pharmacist and he said the meds prescribed were not the meds I needed.

Honestly it's so horrible when u can't trust a trained professional; I can't tell u how many drs I saw b4 I got an accurate diagnosis. Time for u to get a new OBGYN

Time to change doctors .... remember, as Herry the Herp says, a few Dr's graduate at the top of their class, and the rest will be at varying levels below that. You may have got the one who barely made it through :(

 

When I was in Massage School, it was amazing the difference in the abilities of each student, as well as what they easily learned/retained and what they couldn't grasp ... there were several that passed that I wouldn't want to go to for treatment :(
