2 years in and still not feeling positive vibes

Recommended Posts

Hi friends,

I have had h now for about 2 years. When I first found out I was devastated and eventually learned to accept the fact I had it. I knew it wasn't a misdiagnosis. Currently I am on a ob now and am waiting for it to heal and this brings me to what is going on. Honestly I always feel gross and diseased which leaves me feeling crappy about myself. It's like I feel the presence of h always. I tried doing things like exercising lots (went down 2 sizes so far) and am dressing nicer and wearing make-up. Am I just putting a band-aid over a broken bone? For those who share my experience, do you still feel that way? Did you overcome that? If so, then how?

Hi @sweetfemme I also have moments of serious struggle after 2 years. One thing I have noticed is that during an OB I'm generally much darker than at other times. Your body's resources are being pulled and, well, you're sick; just like you feel rotten when you have the flu and it's hard to be positive. I took acyclovir with the initial outbreak nearly 2 years ago but only recently got a prescription from my dermatologist who instructed me to begin taking it at the first signs. And it works to keep the OB away.

I have a friend who endured breast cancer and lost one of her breasts to that nasty disease. Who has it worse? I love my breasts. I'll take h over that. Cut yourself some slack, let yourself be sick with this ob, and then let yourself heal and feel awesome again :)

Hello and Welcome!

Well, I'm a 35 year veteran and I can tell you that for me, Herpes is just a nuisance skin condition in a really inconvenient place. It has only caused a few speed bumps in the timeline of my life...

I'm with @F&P ... I couldn't imagine getting breast cancer and losing a breast ... it's one of the most erogenous parts of my body for one thing, so to lose that would be a total bummer. I'll take H over Cancer any day.

Honestly I always feel gross and diseased which leaves me feeling crappy about myself. It's like I feel the presence of h always.

Well, my observations have been that Herpes acts like a magnifying glass on people's insecurities ... so while you use the words "gross" and "diseased", I would guess that you had some other insecurities about yourself before you got H ... for many, getting H simply JUSTIFIES their poor self image ... it "proves" to them that they are unlovable, or it's "punishment" for their self-perceived irresponsible behavior (even when they get it in a committed relationship from someone who didn't know they had it). So if you are still dealing with these feelings 2 years later, you may want to see about getting therapy/counseling/coaching. Adrial (Mr H Opp himself) is a great life coach ... you may want to contact him and see about getting some coaching from him ;)

Well, I think you are on the right track .... but as I said, you may need some guidance to help you through what Adrial calls the "stinkin thinkin" loop that you are stuck in ;)

(((HUGS)))
