I'm confused. I think. I'm assuming mine is hsv2 just because of location. Which is the lesser of two evils?

If you have HSV2 .. there's a 99% chance it's genital ....only 1% of all oral herpes is HSV2 ..

 

However, if you have HSV1, it can be either oral OR genital .... the CDC says that 50% of all new genital cases are HSV1 ... usually from oral sex

HSV1 genital sheds about 1/3 to 1/2 as much as HSV2 ... and because many people arready have HSV1 antibodies (because they have HSV1 orally... aka cold sores) they have at least *some* protection from it. So that, combined with less OB's (for most) would leade some to say it's the "better" one to have ...

 

Stigma-wise ... it's still Herpes to the uneducated so you will still need to explain the difference to any future partners

There are also STD clinics so you may find one in your area that will run the test for you.

I just wanted to add... i.m.o. there is no lesser evil than the other with herpes.

as i have g-hsv2, and minor o.b. that i can still funtion with.

an old friend of mine has oral hsv, and passed it via oral sex to her bf, and he has horrid o.b.s down south.

alas... everyone is very different.. and every body is different, thus the herpes virus 1 or 2 react differently to different people...

Hsv1 is supposed to be easier...

but i dont talk with that old friend anymore as in the beggining she blamed me for sleeping with him... *gross... and thought i had given him herpes, i tried to explain i had hsv2. And he had hsv1. She didnt understand it till months later when she went to the doc...

so with that being said, i dont know how often his o.b.s are with g-hsv1
