Can HSV2 positive partners have unprotected sex?

I found out a while ago that I have hsv2 and I unknowingly infected my new boyfriend. Fortunately, after a few fights and heated discussions, we're still together. So since we'd like to get intimate again, seeing that sex is an important part of the relationship...what I'd like to know is if we can go ahead and have unprotected sex seeing that we're both already infected. I will ask my doctor but for now, I'd like to know. Especially oral sex or is that off the table?

Yes, if both partners are hsv2 positive then there is no transmission risk.  Of course you still have the other risks that come with unprotected sex to consider.

yes of course, neither of you will "spark" the other to have an OB since you both have the infection

Just to throw some more in here: Still don't have sex while you're having an outbreak (not that you would want to anyway) as that could cause auto-inoculation to other parts of the body (unlikely since there's antibodies helping you out, but good to be cautious).

My partner & I both have it, unsafe sex is ok, just be careful. We both ended up contracting it orally.
