  1. Interesting. Herpes causes a tingling or burning sensation. I had these sensations with no blisters. I did start to notice red track type spots on my gums and a few canker type sore in my mouth that aren’t herpes.

Wait it out until your appointment. Anxiety makes it worse and I know that is easier said then done, as I couldn’t help the anxiety myself.

  2. @Halfdyme @JulyP I’m in the same boat! I have read how some people stay dormant for years before outbreaks, but I don’t believe it one bit. I strongly believe you get sick and have symptoms and you contracted the virus from the last person you had sex with.

How can we go from eating certain types of foods, etc to not having them anymore because they cause outbreaks. Sorry but I think dormant is a bunch of BS. Yes, it can go dormant from your original outbreak, but how can people not feel their primary outbreak? It’s a nightmare!!!

Blood tests are not accurate! Still waiting on my positive blood test 1.5 years later.

  3. Ugh...sorry it happened to you. It sucks!

Go get the lesions swabbed before it’s too late. Blood tests aren’t 100% and you will have to wait some time. If doctors say yeast infections, still ask for herpes swab. Know your status!

  4. @beckham No problem, happy to help as I am in the same boat.  I know I have it and it sucks!

I do feel like I am contagious.  My lips were tingling at one point and I kissed someone on the cheek and now they are dealing with immediate hearing loss.  WTF?  There doctor said it is from a virus.  So, that is all I can think about that it is my fault.  Well I blame the medical community for not investing money into HSV 1 and 2 testing.  I read on Terri Warren's site that accuracy of HSV 1 is 70% and HSV 2 is approximately 92%.

Well, I would say I am negative and show all my test results.  People always believe the blood tests, etc. But after what I am going through I do not believe them.

My nerve issues didn't last long at all. Occasionally on long drives I had shooting pains in my right leg from butt to thigh. It went away after I walked around.

Let's chat offline via private messages.

  5. @Ohhey143 yes I tried it all. The steroids made me lose more hair.

Believe me I have been so persistent. I went to 5 different dermatologists to see if they were on the same page, etc. which they were. They all said I have seborrheic dermatitis and that it doesn’t cause hair loss. They said I have an underlining issue that is causing TE Alopecia.

  6. @Ohhey143 @beckham I broke out in a fever and night sweats 3 weeks from exposure. I also broke out in night sweats at 8 month mark for 2 weeks. They are gone now. I tested for every herpes virus (once) as well as HSV 1 and 2 by blood 3 times by swaband 3 times. HIV (2x at 6 and 8 months) syphillis, hep B, C, Cla, Gon, UTI, BV, Yeast, etc. all test were negative except for Herpes EBV virus (equivocal) as I had it when I was 18 and Herpes Zoster (equivocal) as I had it when I was 5.

At a 1.4 year mark, I feel good but my hair loss is what I’m depressed about.

  7. @beckham

The nerve issues have stopped, but I have burning and tingling sensation on my scalp. I have diffuse hair loss now, which I know if from herpes. I have been more stressed out in my early years with zero hair loss.

I am at a year and 4 months and I feel like symptoms are constant between oral and genital. I never had acne before and now I have pimples like crazy.

I also had severe night sweats around 8 month mark and constant headaches for a week straight.

  8. Hello @Ubikwity

    thank you for your response!

No, I want to avoid Rogaine as it would be a lifetime treatment, but I have taken biotin with no luck. Haven’t heard of topical melatonin for hair loss - that’s a new one! Dermatologists don’t mention that either.

Wish someone going through this can answer my question as i am not on antivirals but I have burning and tingling scalp with diffuse hair loss. Nothing is working!

  9. Hello @lovechild03

To be honest, I too would be livid as well as it is a incurable virus. Some people have intense outbreaks and others only get 1 a year or hardly any. It all depends how the individual immune system handles it.

I would definitely apologize and hopefully he can still be friends with you. Tell him your true feelings etc on why you held back the disclosure etc. Printout exactly what you told us in hopes that he understands that you don’t want people to know.
