  1. also its worth mentioning what whey isolate while being high in Lysin is ALSO much easier to digest and better for the body. If anyone is looking for bars that are all whey isolate and no soy quest is a great brand. The flavors in the stores tastes like semi sweet glue. so I suggest buying them online for better flavors. also "lady boss lean" protein powder has been shown to be very easy to digest and is in fact recommended as the only supplement to take after a weight loss surgery (by a friends doctor who is undergoing weight loss surgery) bc of risk of dumping syndrome and GI discomfort. So that's saying something. so to any other weight lifters out there: there is your FYI. and in case you also didn't know lysin in combination with vit. C creates crenitine in the body which increases oxygen flow to healing muscles and helps fat metabolize
  2. What foods are high in lysine and low in arginine There is a correlation between Lysine and Arginine in Herpes outbreaks. The general rule is reduce the amount of Arginine in your diet and increase the amount of Lysine. Fish, chicken, beef, lamb, milk, cheese, beans, brewer's yeast, mung bean sprouts and most fruits and vegetables have more lysine than arginine, except for peas. Gelatin, chocolate, carob, coconut, oats, whole wheat and, white flour, peanuts, soybeans, and wheat germ have more arginine than lysine. People with viral diseases can benefit from a diet high in lysine and low in arginine. In the following chart, the foods at the top of the list have higher lysine to arginine ratios. Diet and vitamin supplements may influence viral replication. A total approach to nutrition should be used. Use this chart as a guide or a reference only, and see what happens. Look at the absolute figures for lysine and arginine content. There is no reason to avoid a food if it has a low lysine/arginine ratio and only a few mg of arginine in it. A classic combination is eating brown rice with cooked dried beans. While brown rice is high in arginine (190 mg), the dried beans have an excess of 270 mg. of lysine, which more than compensates for the lack of lysine in the brown rice. Another approach is to eat very small portions when eating high-arginine foods like hazel nuts and peanuts. Eating certain foods and avoiding others can reduce the pain and prevent recurrences of herpes attacks. Popcorn has a high arginine to lysine ratio, but those prone to herpes can still enjoy it. After popping, sprinkle with Nutritional Yeast (from the health store). This adds a cheesy flavor to the popcorn. The arginine is neutralized because one tablespoon of nutritional yeast contains 190 mg. more lysine than arginine. Fish, meats and dairy products are high in lysine. However, eating too much of these high protein foods can make the body too acidic, which can also cause a herpes outbreak. Moderation is the key. Good sources of lysine are also found in wheat germ, legumes and in many fruits and vegetables.
  3. update: did much research. I can literally math what the transmission risk is based on gender, condom use, med use and strain of virus (1 or 2). So I have mathed it out: with all the above factors yearly transmission risk with condom use is 0.2116 % for a partner per year. 0.96% without a condom. There is of course the diet change factor which does not come with a proven % number of risk reduction although it IS proven to reduce the shedding and outbreaks so it is pretty safe to assume constancy with proper diet will lower risk quite a bit as well. So assuming my general good health/and diet change added to this it can be reduced to an educated guess of less then 0.2% per year of transmission risk. NICE. although I won't claim anything less then what is proven with actual science backed data. also I"m a huge dork. and a huge health nut. this is the only reason I was obsessed enough to make a damn math chart about this hahahah
  4. So if anyone were to read my first post ever on here I was full of rage, and sadness. totally lost. Something really surprising happened. After I pulled myself out of that I find that I am so much happier. I don't feel desperate for people approval anymore, I can set boundaries with people by saying no to things I don't want to do, I love my friends more, I reach out to people are hurting. I feel humbled by it and happier then i have in many years. I have no idea why this had such a positive change on me but for example tonight: I'm sitting at home wrapped up in a blanket and drinking hot tea loving my life alone in my apt with my dog sleeping next to me on the floor listening to classical music. It's like I found myself BECAUSE of herpes not despite it. I'm actually kind of grateful for it. I feel like I'm a better friend, a better nurse. I can let people in now, I had to let myself be vulnerable and realized I love having people close to me when I used to keep them at arms length. I had to face myself and realized I had been hiding from pain from my past for most of my life, that it was time to let it go. That it's okay to let people see it, okay to let them help. I can see other people's pain now, and I want to help in return. It's been a really powerful journey for me. I haven't been happy with just myself in a long time: not because of a boyfriend or situation. I'm just happy to be here and healthy. To have the privilege to take care of my and other people's health. Never thought I'd see this day when I was breaking down in my kitchen or when I lay on my couch for days not eating. You guys can be happy. HSV doesn't have to be the end of your joy.
  5. I guess I am glad to hear its type 1 then. I think this will make it easier to disclose. I also intend to do tons of research first. I was not given a choice so I want to make sure I give someone that.
  6. it will at least be easier to tell someone bc chances are they would test positive since its so wide spread. same virus same strain=less stigma?
  7. err I have to do a bunch of research now. I have NEVER had a cold sore. Not even as a kid. So I would really love for it not to be spread there on me or anyone else for that matter. I know type 1 is so common bc of cold sores but I suppose I was lucky until now
  8. I got my blood tests back. It's type 1. Anyone have any input about oral sex......or is that a huge no no now. I mean its on my genitals so of course that's always a risk for skin contact but I was kiiiiina hoping for HSV 2. less likelihood of spreading to my mouth or someone else's. Alittle let down. Feels more high risk
  9. this site saved my mind. I was in the thows of a mental break down when I found it. Wasn't even eating. Hearing about and talking to others has made me feel so supported. Made it easier to open up the real people in my life for support. You would be amazed how the people who love you step up to help you. This whole thing has shown me what wonderful support people I have in my life. bc of this site and the confidence it gave me I am actually happy again. I feel beautiful again. I'm not the same as I was before, prob never again but that's not all a bad thing. It has humbled me, made me more understanding out other people's flaws
  10. well first of all let me tell you I'm sorry that you had to go through sexual assault. No one should have to know what that feels like. As for your question: I am seeing someone right now who is very sweet, I told him I wanted to wait and he is agreeable. What I was going to do was wait a few weeks then just tell him. Not have sex of course . I was planning on explaining how it transmits and tell him to get tested to see if he is a carrier. If he is clean then I'll just say: 'I understand if you dont want to risk it, I won't be mad at you" honesty is where it's at. I think when you tell is case by case. there was someone I told right away and with this guy I'm waiting. If someone isn't willing to wait for sex there's a good chance their not going to care about you enough as a human to look past H. It has made me change how I relate to dating now. It's I think a good change. weeds out the people who don't care about me. of course I wish i didn't have to deal with this at all. but of course we can't undo HSV, just work around it
  11. Now that I have it I hear them everywhere. I don't react but internally I flinch every time. At some point does it stop bothering you? Even a work friend who doesn't know I have it said yesterday "It's not like I'm having a STD breakout, of course my vagina is healthy" 😞 as part story she was telling. There's a reason I don't tell this friend personal stuff. but still....
  12. Be grateful its not a high risk strain. that's a huge cancer risk.....sex is scary isn't it? All this shit going around with no signs in most people, and in some things no test until the girl gets it Some things make you unable to have a child or carry one to full term. iDseases that attack you'r immune system until you die of pneumonia.., wtf.....am I right? 😓 I'm honestly scared to have sex again. HSV has had me sick for a whole month. Not a single day I have been well.
  13. so HPV can live in your for a long time before being active. same for men and women. if eather of you had it and it activated.....bam now you both have it if you havent already fought off that strain already. also men cant be tested: theres no test. so if he is carrier he didn't lie to you. he cant know he has it if he never got a wart. my ex ignored them and they went away after a few months or or "took care of them" with a razor. i was like no thanks to that method. they didn't cause him any discomfort they really are a very benign thing to have. they dont cause much pain, the body's immune system can fight it off. I wouldnt worry too much about this once.
  14. your a good partner 🙂 Just keep being you. Having you around just caring enough to worry about how to make her feel better will show.
  15. Bootsychoostsy hahahahahahahahahahahhahaha 😂
  16. I had it for about 5 years. I found that the OBs were....random. Its seemed. I had to get warts burned off every 4 months or so the first year I had it then it decreased over time to almost never after a year and half. If my ex had one I was more likely to have a few where the skin touched it. He would get some very rarely at the base of his penis and i used to get them around the opening so that's right where the skin would rub...My presentation was atypical I was told, and pretty minor. They looked like skin tags or small cysts when I got them. The discomfort was most acute when I had a wart present but I now that I'm remembering...my vaginal opening was always a little....tender. Now that I don't have it anymore that stopped. I thought at the time it was bc my ex was quite large and I'm not.....so sometimes it was painful. sooo in conclusion I don't know if it was from the HPV living in that skin area or my endowed partner causing the pain. I haven't had it since getting rid of it (and him) but I also go for "average" sized guys now too soooo........ Honestly I didn't pay much attention to when I got more or when I went a long time without them bc I was in a long term relationship I thought was very stable so if I noticed any I would just pop over and get them burned off. By burned I mean it was a chemical they dipped on them that "burned" them off. Yes it felt like a chemical was burning my skin off if your wondering. lol The pain was brief was whhooooo. As a side note: a pap will show all HPV. low and high risk. If you have HPV your pap will not be normal
  17. well first of all. fuck that nurse, I'm a nurse and I can tell you the way she spoke to you was not okay. If she knew anything she would know type 1 can go anywhere so don't worry about her. She clearly has no idea what she is talking about. As for the genital warts: I had that about 4 years ago. The body can fight it off. It never caused itching for me. Just mild discomfort during or right after sex. I mean everyone is different but the tried and true way to find out is if it's on your pap. I should be strain.....11 if i remember correctly causing them. The HPV will most likely just go away. Mine didn't until I left my ex of 6 years. It seemed like his stress kept it present, 6 months after I left him it was gone after years. every pap has been clear since. Now of course harpies but you know.... . I'll take the warts back please instead. trades? lol. good luck on your UTI, Azo is amazing. Be careful though you'll stain everything around you orange hahah
  18. i was starting to feel like myself bc my body was healing. then I got a bad case of tonsillitis. Luckily i have some good friends who dragged me to the doctor, I would have ended up in the ER within 2 days. Apparently I'm very sick. I was blaming it all on my H and didn't even consider it could something else. So I had been going back they gym and laughing again but I had to stop bc I'm sick...again/still.
  19. Idk why it has such a bad...reputation. all these herpies jokes that go around like it's shameful slut disease. but it's not.
  20. I have been on valacycolvir x2 daily since the...4th. I do need to go and get blood work but more things keep happening. like found out I was one day or so away from having to having my dang throat drained due to tonsillitis. I'm glad my friend dragged my stubborn ass to the urgent care. I have no idea if I will have any more OB, I have only had my first one so far but I've only had this less then a month so....i sure hope my body adjusts to the virus soon. weight is melting off my like butter from how sick I have been. I was in great shape, a body builder. I look like a skinny sick thing now. As for meditation: I sort of learned from my dad and reading some things. Everyone does it differently but what I do is this. (it took alot a practice). I learned how to feel the energy around me/and in me. Learned to "see" it so that I can move it and manipulate it. I know that sounds crazy but it works. I'm a nurse and I have used it on agitated/confused hospice patients and animals. I used to sit in a wooded area by my home for hours at time and try try try. That's where I found my sort of...enlightenment and stopped doing it so purposefully. Now I just use mini sessions while I'm going about my day. I also retrained my brain to be positive, accepting, and kind. I used to be an angry piece of shit, just brought everyone around me down. Now I'm good, it's like I have calm sea in my chest almost all the time. I don't let the storms in the world around me impact my calm sea. usually. I have to say that my HSV diagnosis was a challenge, it took about 7 days for me to get my calm back. Even now though with my sick body, my soul is peaceful.
  21. thank you for sharing your stories. I felt like I was the only one who this sick since no one was talking about. I'm going to the urgent care today bc my friend won't let me not lol. If anything it would be just on confirm this is a HSV related infection not a secondary one. I don't think I have ever been this sick in my life aside my a stomach virus that was very bad one year.
  22. I was getting well mentally. but I'm sick as damn dog. I have been for weeks. I'm in so much pain all the time, but this tonsillitis had been the worst. My life is at stand still, losing weight despite eating as much as I can and the weakness. urg. Many years ago, about 13 years ago i was in a really bad place mentally bc of how i grew up so...I starting meditating and doing brain exercises to control my reactions/moods. Its been very helpful my whole life. I think that's why I have been starting to be able to cope with the DX of HSV so fast, having 10 plus years experience training your mind helps! I would suggest doing the same, it's hard at first but honestly it is so helpful for literally everything. (btw yes i did have melt down, a bad one) I was def not exempt from that. Why aren't you taking meds to reduce OB? any particular reason? They seem like, based on my research, very helpful
  23. Has anyone every had the "herp fever" after first exposure last longer then the standard 2 to 3 weeks? Also.... Is it usually very severe for you guys? My story Starting out as fever, runny nose, sinus congestion, body aches, weakness, Nausea with no vomiting, painful GI spasms, sore throat, exhaustion, headaches that turned into migraines every day, I was never without a headache, and general body pain. That seemed to ease up expect for the sore throat and headaches but both were improving in severity. Then two days ago the lymph nodes on my left side are so large and painful. The left side of my air way is basically swollen shut. The pain is acute in them. Swallowing is when the pain is worst along with migraine but only on my left side.My ear on the left is also in pain as well as both my eyes, left being much worse then the right. I count my ibuprofen so I don't exceed 3000 a day, but without 600 mg about every 4 to 5 hours my throat is a 8 out of 10 pain whenever I swallow, and a 4 or 5 out of 10 doing nothing. the left side of my face and neck are swollen and painful to the touch. As for the sores, they were gone a long time ago. A week ago, and to begin with they were very minor. only 2 i saw that were the size of pin head. I was told there were blisters inside the vaginal area (I was told by my OBGYN). Even at its worst without meds it just felt like a yeast infection, I would say it was unconformable for sure but not specifically painful. My emotional reaction is a story for another time (it was a full on mental breakdown) but as of the last 5 days I have been quite calm and happy for the most part. Lowest stress level I have had since all this started. I had rejoined the world, taught a class at my job (I'm a nurse), took joy in my pt interactions, went back to the gym again, and hung out with friends. So stress is prob not the cause, I would think. -Exposure date: 9/30 -Symptoms appeared 10/2 -Started anti-virals on 10/4 Can anyone share what happened to them at first exposure and how long it lasted, it is not a popular topic on here in detail. You'r stories would be helpful.
