2nd herpes outbreak

Recommended Posts

Welp it came back for a visit not even a year yet darnit but I didn't freak out like I thought I would...well so far guys. Maybe I'm just too tired to bother right now or Maybe I dunno about tomorrow but now knowing it's a base for melanoma cure makes it no so bad no more. This shit is here for a reason when I personally questioned why why was it put here to shame people?! Well not since I heard that it's here to fight bigger battles n as sucky as it is to live with it hopefully that's only the beginning rest easy all.

Are you taking suppressive meds? How long have you had herpes? I am asking because I had OB's every 3 months or so for 15yrs (and I live an very healthy lifestyle). I didn't want to take the medication because I have always tried to avoid them but when I entered into a discordant relationship I started taking them and man!!!! I don't get OB's anymore (it's been a year now since my last one). The quality of life that comes from being free of the frequent OB's as well as keeping my partner safe has been a life changer. Eventually you may want to try it yourself if you haven't already :)

And you are right..... it could be so much worse, for all of us actually!

@fitgirl

I'm about eight months in since my dx. I started on daily 500mg Valtrex about six weeks ago. Initially all was quiet for about two weeks after going on AV, but then it flaired up again with non stop ob's. I would get one or two blisters, and as soon as they healed another fucker showed up. Kinda like H HAD to show its presence no matter what. The last few days things seems to have quietend down as far as new blisters, but I just know they will soon come back.

I too live quite healthy, but unfortunately ob's from running has kept me away from exercising and physically pushing my body as much as I would like. I eat mostly healthy, but I also try to not deprive myself from everything which could potentiall bring on ob's. I have, and in some ways still am, been under lots of stress the last several months. Pretty much constantly thinking about H obviously does no good either. Maybe it will take a while for this long term stress to really exit my system. I am coming up on the final stretch as far as major changes in my life, hopefully that will lead to a more peaceful inner and in turn lessen my physical symptoms.

@ihaveittoo1975 it's still really early in your diagnosis (my long term regular OB's are an exception). In time I am sure yours will subside and get less frequent, just be patient. The meds may take a while to help you so see how that goes for another few months. In the meantime, I agree not to deprive yourself, just be good to yourself :). I still enjoy wine and chocolate etc since it made no difference to my OB's one way or another if I abstained! And of course the less stress, the better. As a fitness professional, I am a firm believer (with experience) that working out is more likely to reduce OB's if it helps you reduce stress and unless there is a lot of friction in the activities you are doing, the exercise shouldn't be a trigger. My advice on exercise is that you NEED to do it, it makes you feel better and it's good for the mind, body and soul so how can that not be a good thing?? I am not in the school of thought that believes vigorous training causes OB's unless we are talking EXTREME. If you are pumping weights or cross training and pushing your fitness level in a balanced way, eating right and sleeping, OB's won't increase.... if they stay the same, well then you haven't lost or gained anything other than being in better shape :)

@ihaveittoo1975 my bad I know there's cases where some get it more and it sucks it really sucks but it sucks for all of us I mean I think about it daily it sucks to go bathroom now wondering if there's gonna be a sting or a sensation whatever this thing does. I miss being able to pee freely. And it happened. Thank you for trying to get me out the shitty mood. It could be worse but sometimes it feels like it couldn't. But as for your issue have you tried to see what else is going on your immune system or overall health. Cuz I dunno about for guys but for us well you know our anatomy and its pretty painful. Maybe it's trying to tell you something?

So - advice from an old timer ... don't let the virus run your life...

Best thing is to attack it from the outside when it appears ... at the first sign try some of the things in the links below ... you may well be able to knock it right down in a very short time... and being able to "control" it can help you feel better about it :)

No worries! I know it's easy to get wrapped in our own problems, and to be honest, the thinking of "someone else has it worse than you" really doesn't do me any good, so I definitely see where you are coming from.

As far as my immune system, I really don't suspect there's anything wrong with it. Pre H I was rarely sick, maybe a cold or two a year, that's it. I really think is the past several months of a continuously high stress factor which has done me in. Things are now settling down slowly but surely, and hopefully my ob's will too.

Oh that's good to hear yes!! But I hear some have very few obs then they come raging outta nowhere too so that's freaking me out. Then I go to my fb see a picture of Jessica Alba and well I see so much herpes comments from dbags back to back so that don't help one bit it makes it harder to be OK with it I just want to not care about it and at times I dont and I'm one not to give a damn what others think either so I dunno why I let this bother me because once you get over it is you deal with it's not a big freaking deal but the shaming is tough
