HSV 1

Recommended Posts

I got my blood tests back. It's type 1.  Anyone have any input about oral sex......or is that a huge no no now. I mean its on my genitals so of course that's always a risk for skin contact but I was kiiiiina hoping for HSV 2. less likelihood of spreading to my mouth or someone else's. Alittle let down.  Feels more high risk

2 out 3 people have hsv1 .. if they have the virus already it’s my understanding that you can’t give it to them again. Of course u shouldn’t be having sex while having outbreaks. Normally the antibodies are there to not have it show up in another location, after the information I have been reading. If I’m wrong hopefully someone else can chime in on this.

I think you should be happy it’s type 1!  Of course I know what you mean tho, but hsv2 has more chances for outbreaks apparently people say, since it is mainly for the genital tea, so like with hsv1 down there on your genitals, it’s meant to be less outbreaks since it prefers the mouth. But I dunno 🤷🏻‍♀️

err I have to do a bunch of research now. I have NEVER had a cold sore. Not even as a kid.  So I would really love for it not to be spread there on me or anyone else for that matter.

I know type 1 is so common bc of cold sores but I suppose I was lucky until now

As someone with genital hsv 1 I would say that I think it is a bit less stigmatized to have this strain as opposed to hsv 2. Partially because a ton of people already have hsv 1 or have someone close to them that has hsv 1. Also because it’s less contagious genitally than hsv 2 is, like quite a bit less contagious. Dr Terri Warren who specializes in hsv has stated that she’s never seen a genital to genital transmission of it. Whereas hsv 2 virally sheds about 4 times as much as hsv 2. This isn’t me shitting on having hsv 2 though, these are just some facts I know and that strain isn’t a very big deal either.

I seen her Terri Warren post about that. I’m actually someone that got hsv1 gential to gential. I was surprised.

update: did much research. I can literally math what the transmission risk is  based on gender, condom use, med use and strain of virus (1 or 2). So I have mathed it out:  with all the above factors yearly transmission risk with condom use is 0.2116 % for a partner per year. 0.96% without a condom. There is of course the diet change factor which does not come with a proven % number of risk reduction although it IS proven to reduce the shedding and outbreaks so it is pretty safe to assume constancy with proper diet will lower risk quite a bit as well. So assuming my general good health/and diet change added to this it can be reduced to an educated guess of less then 0.2% per year of transmission risk. NICE.

although I won't claim anything less then what is proven with actual science backed data.

also I"m a huge dork. and a huge health nut. this is the only reason I was obsessed enough to make a damn math chart about this hahahah

Crazy that someone that is a specialist in the field never seen one case of it and it’s extremely rare.. only I could have such bad luck 😢

well i can KIIIINNND of see why it happened to me. the guy I got this from was NOT on valtrex AND was massively unhealthy ( I mean ate bad, slept bad, stressed, ectra) so when he sheds he prob sheds large amounts of virus over the FULL 3 day span. and being a women with all the those mucus membranes. bam

I was also pissed, i was going sue him. buuut I can't. long story but the evidence got messed up. but i totally would have. he was not having an outbreak at all at the time. thats how i know it was from shedding.  I just unlucky, I used protection for every skin to skin contact down there, I asked him about his past, but...it happens i guess. he lied.  Based on his number of partners and transmission risk % he gave this to AT LEAST 6 other people. Of course I didn't know what a whore he was or his poor health until AFTER

how long have you known? I'm actually okay now. I feel empowered almost. I took control of my diet, meds, and mental health. I feel good, not sick anymore from first exposure illness, back at the gym and going out with friends/dating.

I understand.. just wondering. I hate taking it.

it hasn't had any side effects for me: and no known long term organ dysfunction that I can find online and I asked my OBGYN. It's worth it to me. makes me feel much more in control of it all.

plus it lowers your risk of passing it to a man ( assuming your a girl) by a HUGE 77%

Yes I am a female and I currently don’t have anyone I’m with sexually so I have been looking at the holistic approach.. using oil of oregano and collide sliver to help .. I heard it works good, still trying to do some more research on it. This all I do most all day is trying to find ways to deal with this horrible virus 🤦‍♀️

I used to think this was just the most horrible thing too: but i find the more i do to help the less horrible is feels. diet changes,  and meds.....its unlikely I will have outbreaks again....and low risk of passing it to someone.  I don't know about oils. I know they are helpful BUT I'm a nurse......oils seem so...unproven to me. there's no data proving its effectiveness. alot of it seems like a placebo effect to me but i know people who swear by them so do you girl!

If you ever feel down about this: consider this. while embarrassing the herp is only a rash.....its benign. look up HPV and cancer rates with strain 6, HIV and early death. This is just a rash, it can't hurt you. I can just hurt your mental state.

I know but I feel so emotional and your right I got get better with the diet. What kind of diet u go on? Plus I gotta quit crying so much I know that makes it come back. I’m 45 and it seems to have effected my nerves a bit.. I still deal with nerve pain.
