  1. wow, false positives, really? thats so crazy! glad you got tested and recieved the proper result. :)
  2. Oh I'm so glad I read this before I tried it on my sore! Lol
  3. Well you know you can never get rid of herpes its with you forever and I wouldn't recommend buying medication online only because some companies like to scam innocent people desperate for a cure or something to help them and the medication isn't even beneficial at all. Oh man, margaritas are my one and only vice, I'm addicted lol but I cut down on hard alcohol, mexican food is good but you don't want to eat anything too spicy or that can possibly trigger an outbreak. I do know Organic Apple Cider (Braggs with the Mother, $8 bucks a bottle) is amaaazing for your skin. I use it for acne and pedicures but haven't tried it on my Herpes sores but I'm gonna give it a shot on my nose and see if it helps.
  4. Omg! So my bfs results came back, its not strep. So kinda going back to my theory on if H plays a role in sore throats if you have it....you know, you can do things while you're out on the road that are pretty simple when it comes to eating right! Like, say you go to Wendys, your combo meal may cost about $5-7 tops depending on what you get, just switch it up and get a salad :) their asian ones are delicious and have less fat compared to their caesar and southwest salads. Also drink more water, less juices and sugary drinks and food altogether, increase your vegetable intake (dark leafy greens like baby spinach, kale, red cabbage, also carrots are excellent) and it will go a long way! I also take a daily multivitamin, probiotics, and zinc which boosts the immune system. Blessed to say I haven't been sick this year, and never had a flu shot. Lol.
  5. My boyfriend is suffering from strep throat and he has HSV too. He's waiting for lab results as we speak. I wonder if strep is a complication of H or if its just something that happens due to viruses running rampid in the winter. I'm the same way though I'm rather new to HSV so anytime I notice something strange I immediately think thats what it is lol.
  6. Yeah I believe we will suffer more during the winter months because the cold is harsher on our skin. I'm using GoldBond Eczema Relief and its actually helping with the irritation. Idk if sneezing is related to H though, usually you'll experience swollen lymph nodes, fever, body aches, stuff like that. You could be suffering from allergies more or less, since that tends to be a chronic condition.
  7. Its definitely not uncommon for it to happen. I had flu symptoms with my first outbreak also. My nose wasn't initially irritated though, and my lips itched but never broke out. I think I transferred it to my nose by scratching without washing my hands or I may have both types of HSV since my giver has both. I woke up this morning looking like Rudolph. The flesh between my lips and nose up to my nostril area is red and puffy, I actually LOOK like I have the flu lol.
  8. aHA! Thanks for that Walmart link, Acyclovir 30 day is just $4 and the 90 day is $10 bucks!!! I've been jipped! Then again my prescription was for 400mg and Walmarts website is advertising 200mg, so maybe thats why the price was diff. But if I took 2 pills that would equal to one 400mg so whats the deal? Lol, I'm calling my doc to refill for me tomorrow. :D
  9. Thats where I went initially for my diagnosis, they issued me a prescription and was told the most I'd pay for meds would be $10, if that. Needless to say I was surprised when Walmart wanted $20 for my prescription.
  10. So I'm in a bit of a pickle here. Being that I recently got a new job and have not been there long enough to recieve medical benefits yet, I'm pretty much screwed when it comes to getting meds. I do have a gynecologist, but the state of Virginia's policy on Medicaid is a joke (I'm only allowed ONE free visit, which is my annual exam, and free birth control which I no longer take), so I am responsible for the costs of prescriptions. I was told Walmart had a $5 dollar plan and Acyclovir was on it but when I picked up my last bottle it ran me about $20 bucks for 30 pills. Now I'm kind of stressing out because I believe I am getting an outbreak near my nose (the area is itchy and alittle swollen) and I'm currently limited on cash. Oh the struggles of being a broke college student. Anyway, any idea on which pharmacies sell meds for cheap?
  11. This is so awesome. I am so happy to hear everyone's success stories on coming out. Can you imagine how life would've been had you not told anyone? Living with constant fear of anyone finding out, living in shame, living with regret, living in the shadows. That would be no life at all.
  12. Yes darling, it gets SOOOOO MUCH EASIER. I am so sorry for everything you have been through before finding out your diagnosis, that had to have been rough. However look at you now! You lived through that traumatic event and you are here to tell us your story. I truly believe its all in your mind on how H plays a role in your life. If you think of it as a plague it will seem like one and you will isolate yourself from everyone and not truly be able to live your life as you should. Once you grow into acceptance and learn to love yourself and realize you are NOT herpes and that you are the exact same person you were before, just with a minor skin condition that most people have, or don't think is even a big deal, you will feel so much better. I thought my life would be over and that I'd never find love or that nobody would accept me and I was SOOOO wrong!!! People will love and cherish you even more!!! However you have love and cherish yourself first, and a beautiful life will follow.
  13. Thanks ladies. I'd rather it be H than "skin cancer" as the internet mentioned lol. I hate diagnosing myself. It really did look as if it was disappearing when I took acyclovir though. Good thing I have Vaseline lip balm. I'll give that a try on the ole snout. Lol.
  14. @chinup trust me, I know all too well of the struggle!!! I'm still scared to have sex too so I'm waiting to build up enough antibodies before I do it again, maybe another few months. Still it is TORTURE cause I am super attracted to this guy (and yes I met him on PS lol) and he hasn't been with a woman in over 6 months. So its a huge tease but at the same time it gives you a chance to get to know the guy you're with on a better level and develop monogamy before sex. I guess H can be a bit of a c*ck blocker but in a good way. lmao!!!! I too know people with it that are even married and living their lives exactly the same as if they don't have H at all. Thats what I am striving for.
  15. I have this circular patch thats been on my nostril, its red and there are tiny white lesions in it but it doesn't protude through the skin. Now theres a little red bump around the edge of my nostril....sometimes it itches but not really. Its just a nuisance to stare at when I look in the mirror. Looked like it was going away when I was on antiviral now it looks abit angry. just googled pictures of H on the nose, yeah it looks a lot like what I'm dealing with :( anybody experience this? What did you do to treat it? I'm out of meds until tomorrow.
  16. Wow...I may not be pregnant, I can relate to a lot of what you wrote, down to the T. My cousin who also has HSV has had 2 kids since her diagnosis and both of them were born naturally with no health problems. People are just not informed enough on the matter, or they read online and look at the worst case scenarios and relate it to your situation, which may not always be the case. I know family can sometimes be your biggest judgers, I still haven't told certain family members because I feel they will react ignorantly on the matter. Even some friends have said "you should press charges because he gave you an incurable disease" blah blah but to me it really isn't worth it. People contract HSV every single day, and I'm sure he didn't purposely give it to me. Its just the consequences we are dealt with for partaking in risky situations. I know you are hurting, I don't blame you. I also know you are strong and you can get through this, because you have a precious gift growing inside of you, and you need to be the best version of yourself so they can grow up and be as strong and courageous as you are :) I learned to let the negative things people say go through one ear and out the other. They aren't living our lives, so who are they to speak on this issue? You will get through this. I'm sure your family means no harm. They are just concerned for you and your baby's well-being. Just look at it that way. I hope this helps you abit. Keep your head up, beautiful :)
  17. Ugh isn't it frustrating? I now know exactly what you're going through. Doctors sometimes can't even come up with a reason for your problems they'll just throw meds at you and expect them to work. Could be a non-resistant yeast infection though, I wouldn't doubt it at all. I know for sure my itching is due to H and it sucks cause its in a location I can't scratch :/ my face and arms itch too I've just been using Cortisone cream and anti itch lotion for it. I'm thinking thats more of a dry skin issue than H though. Darn winter weather!
  18. Sorry I meant to say, he takes Valtrex to reduce viral shedding and outbreaks. He doesn't take it for me, rather for his own benefit. @ivory you're right I kinda figured its my cervix lesions healing..it was infected pretty bad so I guess thats gonna take some time to go back to normal. Thank you!! I was alittle freaked out and thought I was in for another OB :( @chinup don't worry you would be surprised how many H- men don't care about your status at all! I have 2 guys currently showing interest in me but they are alittle too late I found someone lol. You guys are gonna be fine and congrats btw! I was thinking of doing just that, getting a standby prescription for the future. I'm gonna give my doc a call on Monday. @seeker as you can see I'm currently dating someone whos also H+. Its just my personal preference because I don't have to explain all the details since he's been there, done that, and actually teaches me about it more, its makes us closer. So I'm sure there are ladies that feel the same as I do.
  19. I have been off of Acyclovir now for about a week. The dr only gave me 10 days worth of meds to take to clear up the initial outbreak symptoms. For 2 days now I've noticed that internal itch came back, and the weird tingling inside as well but its not as intense as it was the first time. However, I do have sharp excruitiating pain that starts in my middle toe and it only happens on the left side where the herpes made its entrance. I noticed this same sharp pain during my first OB as well but it went away after taking the meds. Should I ask for suppressive therapy? The guy I'm dating takes Valtrex everyday he says it keeps him from shedding and suffering from OBs. So maybe I should try that also?
  20. @ohgagirl, consider it a bullet being dodged because like @beachdude said, what if he reverted back to drinking and became abusive? That would not have been a good situation to put yourself in. Him freaking out over HSV1 is like, freaking out over a mosquito bite. Very childish and immature on his part, you don't need anyone like that. @wcsdancer I never tried Tinder before but POF is a pretty good site. My date last night went GREAT! He's had HSV2 for 2 years and he's educating me on ways to keep myself from having OBs, he's also very open about it and hilarious. He makes light of having it (we call it "herpaderps" lol). Hanging out again today. Stuck on eachother already lol.
  21. It could be herpes, but try asking your doctor for a prescription of Flagyl and Diflucan since you tend to suffer from both. Flagyl is an antibacterial medication and Diflucan is an antifungal to treat the yeast infection. Both work very well together. If that doesn't work then it could probably be due to H and maybe you're experiencing minor OBs from time to time. Herpes doesn't actually weaken the immune system but it can thrive when your immune system is down so if you're under a lot of stress or feeling fatigued lately it will run its course. I know when I was on birth control I suffered from yeast infections and vaginal dryness because I was on a low estrogen pill so it actually disrupted my hormone balance and caused me a whirlwind of problems. Since I've been off the pill everything went back to normal. The natural way to prevent yeast infections is to take Acidophilus Probiotic supplements, eat yogurt, wear 100% cotton panties to keep your lady bits free of moisture, avoid sugary foods or a lot of bread, try not to stress a lot, drink Kefir and you should be able to manage it even without antifungal medication :)
  22. :D I know I just texted you but again I am SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!!!!
  23. @Inka yeah I know, the majority of men online are seeking a booty call. However there a decent amount of men actually looking for something real and something more. I had a guy message me on POF today thanking me for my honesty said my profile showed that I was as beautiful inside as I was on the outside which was very sweet :) and thank you @dreamingofaoneone167. Its getting better since I met a guy who also has HSV2 and we have been hitting it off. I'm actually hanging out with him right now :D
  24. @wcsdancer2010 do you live in a rural area? I live in Virginia Beach a heavy populated town and like 70% of residents here have an online dating profile lol. @inka he could be Adam's stunt double I showed a friend his photo and hes like "thats Adam's twin" lmao. Try out POF and see if it works for you!
