I am an nurse at the number one trauma center in New Orleans. For the last two days, I've been taking a trauma class. I am officially certified to be hands on when the serious traumas come into the hospital. I had a slight "breakdown" when I got to my car, but I am proud of myself.

Unfortunately no I do not. I have an A.A.S. I was going to school for PT, but decided 6 more years of school was not what I wanted right now. So, I changed my field to nursing, as I have always been interested in it. I am an MP in the military, so completely different job. I started the RN, associates, September last year and I will be done February 2015. From the research I've done, I should be able to get my BSN within 10 months of graduating this program... A lot of work yes, and pharmacology is going to kick my ass lol, as I do not have that much knowledge here compared to the LPN's in the class, Just doing AM care in clinical's for now. Cannot wait for medsurge. Good luck to you on your BSN, we will always be able to find a job in this field.

Not sure how much you know about this, but once I get more experience, I want to go to another country like Ireland, Germany, UK, Australia, Greenland, somewhere...and work in their local hospitals, as an American contract job type thing, on a work visa. I think it would be awesome to live somewhere like that for a year and gain experiences of other cultures and still work as an RN.

That is absolutely awesome, @zyhpen! Keep up the great work! I am actually interested in travel nursing, but I want to do it in the US. I haven't decided if I'm ready to go all the way to another country yet!

Feel free to message me with any questions or thoughts of nursing. I actually want to go back to get my masters. I would love to teach nursing at some point or get into education. I've been a nurse for about two years now. I worked on a ortho floor, which was great. PTs are great by the way, but nursing is better! lol. Now I'm loving the trauma! It amazing seeing chest being cracked open and everything eles you can picture.
