  1. If you have reason to think it's a possibility then get tested. In my opinion the worse thing you can do is not get tested and then find out down the line you do have because it can lie dormant without obvious symptoms for days, months or even years n some cases.
  2. I completely understand how you feel. We share some of the same emotions. I may have also had this when I had my daughter and had no idea. I will never understand why OB's do not test for HSV with pregnancy. Feel comfort in knowing that it was not passed to him. You have to try and find the silver lining where and when you can because this can very easily take you down a dark hole. Dont hate yourself. There are SO many people walking around with the same thing and have no idea and that is absolutely worse. That's how we got here. It's hard, I know. Hell I have yet to disclose to anyone at this point. I haven't been able to bring myself to say the words out loud. Thankfully I'm not dating anyone at the moment, but I am trying to prepare myself for when that time comes. Feel free to message me whenever you want to chat.
  3. You are absolutely not alone. I was recently diagnosed with both as well and I haven't been with anyone in a year, so I was completely at a lose and confused, with no idea who it came from. I try to find ways to push forward this everyday. Some days are better than others right now. In regards to the guy you were seeing, I can only imagine your disappointment. But it could also be a blessing in disguise. You don't need people who don't support you and have your back around. 🤷🏽‍♀️
  4. People say that the ob's are supposed to lighten up the longer you have hsv, but I'll be honest, I'm not sure that I believed that is the case for many. I was diagnosed a few months ago when I hadn't been with anyone in a year. So apparently this is something that I've had for God knows how long. I get my check ups annually like clock work and never anything. Once the symptoms started is when I discovered like so many others that hsv testing is not part of the std panel. I randomly had a cold sore in Sept which I never remembered having before. Went to the Dr and found out I have 1 and 2 and it's kind of been hell since then.
  5. First off, know that you are not alone. Unfortunately, there are many folks on this very forum that share your same story. Yoi have not destroyed your life, no matter how much of may feel like it. I was diagnosed a few months ago and I am still processing it all myself. It's not easy but I have to believe that there's a light at the end of the tunnel. When you say that you have a daily outbreak, what do you mean exactly?
  6. GHSV2 can appear anywhere within the "boxer short" area. It just manifests itself differently in each person. Some people get it in the same spot every time and other have multiple spots were their OB's appear.
  7. @gorgeoustechie is there a particular anti-inflammatory diet book or site you could recommend? I'm will try anything. This daily tingling is seriously making me crazy? Any other supplements?
  8. For those that take antivirals for suppression, is there a difference between taking 1g once a day or 500mg twice a day of valacyclovir? I have currently been on 1g daily for about 2 weeks now and I still feel symptoms at some point daily.
  9. I completely agree! I am also very confused about the whole diet thing. I will also share that when I was not watching my diet I never had any OB's. I changed my diet 1 year ago and stopped eating red meat, pork and limited my fried and processed foods and for the last 4 months I've had nonstop prodrome and ob's🤷🏽‍♀️
  10. Btw I am so sorry to hear about your HPV dx. 😥 Sending positive energy your way!💕
  11. I think that you should give her your true opinion. If you are real friends she will know that your concerns are coming from a good wholehearted place and not a place of judgement.
  12. @Little Star this is extremely encouraging because ilalot of the time I just don't feel like I will be accepted. It's good to know that when someone does it will be worth the wait!
  13. Thanks @Concerned1977 I will try lemon balm salve. I do have the lip balm and it helps the symptoms on my lips but then it feels like it jumps to the skin around my mouth. I went to the dermatologist and that was kind of a waste of time because they can't seem to help unless you have an actual active OB happening😥. My hsv 1 is 21 and my hsv2 is 6.5. However, I've read that the numbers don't mean anything, which I find hard to believe but okay. I just assumed it was oral 1 and genital 2, but honestly I've never had an OB swabbed. I had a fully active cold sore on my lip in September which is what led me to get tested in the first place only to find out I also have 2 (lucky me). I've had some discomfort below in the past but, nothing major or that stood out. I think I may have been diagnosing myself and I'd been misdiagnosed with yeast infections...or maybe it was just all happening at the same time. I just don't even know😩
  14. I was taking emergency but I'm kind of iffy on whether or not it really provides vitamin c😂
  15. Do you feel like the magnesium helps? Do you have hsv1 or 2? I can't seem to get the tingling feeling around my mouth to stop. It is driving me crazy.
  16. I may have to just do the same. The more I think about it the more anxiety it gives me, and that is definitely the last thing I need.
  17. Thanks!! This is slightly encouraging. I think I might go for it. It's easier to see what's happening down below that way🤦🏾‍♀️
  18. I wish I knew! I take daily antivirals as well.🤷🏽‍♀️ I have seen that people take lysine, vitamin c, vitamin d, zinc, red marine algae, lemon balm, oregano, probiotics ....seems like a whole bunch of supplements to me. Not sure what combination actually does the trick.
  19. A lot of people take lysine, vitamin d, multivitamin and I've also heard of red marine algae, I think it is. I was taking lysine for a while but I don't really know if it was helping much. It didn't seem like my symptoms got under control (somewhat anyways ) until I started antivirals.
  20. Hi @Braino many of us probably share that same sentiment, at least I do. I never thought twice about hsv until my dx. When you look at the statistics we all probably know at minimum one other person with it, even if they never admit it. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Sorry, I'm in Houston but this forum definitely helps to not feel alone in this, so welcome and sending positive energy your way!
  21. I wouldn't find that hard to believe! Let us know what she says.
  22. I feel you!!!! I just need to figure it out before summer☺️
  23. I thought that was strange too, but in all of the stories and posts I've read it just seems that Hsv reacts to differently for everybody. It's no wonder people don't know or realize they may have it. Does your friend's mother have a store? I live in Houston. I'm willing to try almost anything. I don't want to take medication the rest of life either but at the moment I am too scared to stop taking it.
  24. Got it! Okay, I'm going to build up the courage to do it and pray that the meds help to keep an OB at bay🙏🏾
