  1. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck it's a duck right? This is a direct quote from my gynecologist when I was given my first visual diagnosis. That was the closest I have ever come to having a doctor take me seriously. Just got off the phone with Terri Warren the herpes expert and she has indeed served me another round of dissapointment. I explained my situation to her and she told me "well if you had cold sores as a child it's not genital Hsv1. I thought even the majority of web md, mayo clinic websites have gotten the memo that yes indeed it is possible to have hsv1 both places. She also told me that it is impossible to have daily herpes outbreaks. I don't understand why doctors and nurses alike can't think outside the box. It's a virus- a living thing, of course it can be unpredictable. Just because most cases present a certain way does not mean every case will. She did agree to send me pcr swabs in the mail. As much as I would love to have some mysterious disease... I would like the satisfaction of finally getting the diagnosis of herpes so that I can be treated accordingly.
  2. It is very interesting indeed! Can't they find another virus to cure herpes though? Lol
  3. Herpes can present so many different ways. If it is forming an ulceration it's possible this could be an outbreak.
  4. Not necessarily .....Dancer will eventually have a better more informative response but from what I understand you can have prodromes often with no outbreak- you can also have what's called post herpetic neuralgia- which is nerve pain for a period of time after the outbreak. If you think about the virus traveling along the nerves it's easy to understand how aggravating the already sensitive nerves may cause you discomfort. I have thought about ordering a more padded seat for my bike to see if that helps.
  5. I am on valtrex too and get outbreaks constantly. You are not alone!
  6. Yes I often get the nerve pain and flu like symptoms. Not saying this is definetly an outbreak but it could be. You will learn how your body feels in time and that can be a good thing to identify them. As far as biking I have also experienced this just last week. I believe it is the pressure in that sacral area that aggravates the area.
  7. I think the moral thing to do would be to tell him. If you don't tell him... And he did contract it then whomever he encounters will not have a fair chance at their health. We all make mistakes don't beat yourself up -
  8. i live in Pennsylvania and I find the doctors are very accommodating when it comes to suppressive therapy- also it is very accessible and affordable with insurance. I think it's great that you are trying to prevent from transmitting it to prospective partners. You sound like a wonderful person. Can't wait to hear your success story in the near future!
  9. I am at work but wanted to respond quickly.... Yes it will get better. It's normal to feel all these emotions. Come on here post, read others posts to work through them. This site is a great support. I have atypical case but for most it gets easier over time and you will find that person who will love you and accept you with herpes.
  10. I have noticed mine are worse at same time every month. Usually right before my period. Have also found that when I am on birth control my outbreaks are worse
  11. Thank you for this information!!! I have always wondered if testing would show presence of edema or enlargement of tissues. I believe I have hsv1 and I am constantly getting muscle twitching with outbreaks.
  12. I am so sorry about what happened to your friend. You sound like a wonderful and giving person... It's hard to put yourself first when you have such life changing events.
  13. I've been to infectious disease. They have no idea what is going on. You say rheumatology? What do you think they will test for?
  14. I know. I give Mr. herp a nice warm body rent free- you would think he would reciprocate and give me some alone time.
  15. I know it could be worse... But I'm battling with my positive mantra. Trying so hard to take day by day...but these constant outbreaks are continuing to take their toll. It's been a full year today- and I've had about 4 weeks of no symptoms. when will this end?
  16. Just finished reading your story.... Which was beautiful eloquent and everything I have felt perfectly described. I hope you were able to disclose to this man... And I hope he accepted you the way you are!
  17. Thanks everyone. @2Legit2Quit I have been on suppressive valtrex for over a year...it's not suppressing anything in my opinion. Constant mild outbreaks on buttocks, bikini line and vagianl area. Rectal itching and tingling in the buttocks and back of thighs never stops. I have not tried famvir because my doctor will not prescribe. Thank you @WCSDancer2010 I will look for that article
  18. WCSDancer2010 can you add me to that list? I've been missing for a while but still experiencing nonstop outbreaks.
  19. All I can say is my story is identical to yours. Hsv 1 orally and strange vaginal symptoms for years and years.... Rectal itching and raw skin I have def experienced. Still have not gotten a positive swab. But I believe at this point it is herpes.
  20. Hi sadpanda- I am still having constant outbreaks while on valtrex after almost a year! Just stopped taking it last week. No sense overloading my liver for no reason. Lol
  21. Just a positive thing to think about... Sounds like you have a great partner and you can both support each other!
  22. Thank you Dancer... I would love to chat.
