When I went off antivirals for a few months at my 3 month mark I was exactly the same with the back to back outbreaks! It was awful so I definitely feel for you right now. Have you tried taking 2 tablets a day? That's what my doctor recommended for a short while so my body could get used to the virus :)

My doctor said the same thing here in Aus that they don't test people who have no symptoms because there's no reason as it's not impacting on their quality of life. Did he go to a normal GP? He might need to go to an STD clinic instead and insist on getting tested for HSV :) Are there any activities or sports you liked doing before you met your boyfriend that you could maybe try again to meet new friends? I was in the same situation as you a few years ago feeling like I had no friends and it's awful! I'm sorry you're going through all of this :( x

I was given a script for lignocaine gel which numbs the area like a boss! :)

Hi @antifragile I also have both warts and herpes too! I haven't ever disclosed about the warts( as I haven't had symptoms since 2011) I did only disclose to my ex boyfriend who also had them (he actually gave them to me so it was an easy convo to have haha) Although obviously I'm 100% for disclosing with herpes :) Good Luck with sussing out your lady friend :)

This 100% happens to me! I definitely don't self lubricate like I used to before I got H...I'm not sure if it's the virus or just worrying about passing it on though x

I've got post herpetic neuralgia and have all of your symptoms. So maybe go back to your doc and ask about that and get prescribed the right medication in combination with the suppressive meds :)

@wcsdancer2010 If my giver had sores that lasted 3-5 days without meds and disappeared even quicker whilst taking meds...that would mean neither of us has a resistant strain right? I've had a few sore red spots on my bum and upper back thigh even though I'm on suppressive (which my doc said are ingrown hairs) so I'm kind of worried I have a resistant strain. I haven't had a vaginal outbreak in months though whereas off the meds it was fortnightly.

I would suggest asking to see his results when he gets tested...the guy who gave me this had the weirdest reaction to me telling him about it and then apparently went and got tested but I'm pretty sure he didn't he was so non chalant about it and refused to get a printed copy of his test results. Just a suggestion though :) glad you're travelling ok xx

I know how your feeling @whitedaisies I had to go see my psychologist yesterday because I've been feeling really down to the point of contemplating suicide. I Don't care that I have herpes I've fully accepted it, it's just this horrendous nerve pain that's getting me so down :( it's impossible to exercise or date anyone.

My meds take the edge off my pain but unfortunately 10 months later im still in ALOT of pain even on the highest dosage of meds. I get tingling all day every day so I can't tell if it masks the prodromes or not. Have you started taking any of the meds?

I reckon it has a lot to do with the viral load too. I think the person I was seeing had a recent infection (turns out he was sleeping around all over the place) so that magnifies it and then there was ALOT of rubbing in the areas which I have stacks of pain so I think I basically rubbed a shit tonne of the virus into my skin. Glad it's not warts :) I can only take Valtrex not the other one because I get crazy itchy and burnt when I'm not taking Valtrex. xx

I feel the same way about it as @fitgirl and im guessing the 'Brain Herpes' they are referring to is meningitis which I thought was super rare?

@whitedaisies From what I remember reading warts take 6-12 months to show up normally. How long have you been with your partner? X

Don't stress too much if it is a wart...I was lucky enough to get genital warts from my very first boyfriend and I had to have them burnt off twice in the space of a year and then never saw another one because your body clears that virus within a couple of years usually :) Could it be a small cyst maybe? Let us know how you go at the obgyn :)

Hi, Will being HSV2 + end any chance of having spontaneous sex with a partner again? I was quite adventurous before enjoying spontaneous sex with my two ex bf's in an array of places during the relationships. Once I've gotten through the disclosure to someone and having them hopefully say yes will it just be an awkward thing where we won't have any spontenaity because there will just be a lot of thought on having protection with us all the time which could snowball into worrying about herpes transmission for them & I? It's just such a bummer :( Thanks

@misskellyrenee I used to think in exactly the same way as you described above when I was struggling with depression....until I got Herpes! Which is so crazy to think!! :) I actually had one of those ahhh! Moments last night when I was at the movies with the guy I've been seeing and he had a cheeky grab of my boob and exclaimed how perky they were! In the past I would have brushed that off and said something about having small boobs and how I hate them and then I would have just ended up feeling embarassed about having a small chest because 'everyone has bigger boobs then me' haha But this time I just giggled and took his compliment on board :) I hope you got to have a good chat with your roomie and how you were feeling etc If not there's plenty of us on here who would be happy to listen :) x
