  1. Well I'm aware they aren't as thorough w their testing as here and IMHO, that is still wrong, despite the reasons why. Universal healthcare or not..
  2. Me too @wcsdancer2010 . I had one like that too and flu like symptoms w it. It was horrible. I was in agony.
  3. Is it sticking to your underwear or something?
  4. Yeah pretty scary the ignorance today we have is still so bad
  5. Well it's possible for false negative swabs, especially if not swabbed w in 48hrs of onset. The best option would likely to get an IgG type specific Elisa blood test. I doubt you gave it to yourself, but if you want to put your mind at ease, those are the options. Really sorry about your past. That's horrific and I'm glad you're in the mend. You deserve to be loved.
  6. That's annoying. Are you wearing something w a lot of seams?
  7. I can assure you that most guy's you've kissed or been w, had oral HSV 1. If you have ghsv 2, that gives you immunity from HSV 1 in your genitals, but you can still possibly get it in your mouth. If you're concerned about that, then you may want to test people before even a kiss. Hope that outs this into perspective for you.
  8. For some people they can have prodrome long. For others, it's usually just a few days to a week maybe or it can be one time that day and not happen for awhile. Unfortunately there is no black and white definitive answer when it comes to how H will behave. I know that when you're newly diagnosed, you want so bad to have the unknown answered, but you will need to learn to get comfy in this grey area and accept it as your new normal. Some people's symptoms are predictable, for others like myself, it can chnage on me after being consistent for months..
  9. Make sure u u ask specifically for the type specific IgG Elissa test. Do not let them out you in for a combined or an IgM.
  10. Send her the following links. https://chriskresser.com/low-dose-naltrexone-ldn-as-a-treatment-for-autoimmune-disease/ https://www.drgonzalezmd.com/low-dose-naltrexone-for-fewer-herpes-outbreaks/ http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs102/1102176382338/archive/1115244637066.html http://www.google.com/patents/WO2011123084A1?cl=en Girl, I feel your pain. I completely get it. Although I've never had a painful OB again since my primary, I've had constant mild ones and what it die to my nerves and unable to tolerate sitting in hard surfaces was soooo frustrating. I eventually bad to just accept this as my new normal or I'd not survived dealing w it. I think it's totally worth a shot and if she's a good doctor. She won't shoot it down immediately. She will do her homework first, before making a decision. LDN is so cheap, that insurance companies don't even cover it. It's like 45 dollars to 40 for a months supply.
  11. Yes, I stopped the valtrex for a couple reasons. After I hit my one yr, for like 5 months I had back to back mild obs every day, despite being on meds. 2. What's the point if I'm not w anyone and it's not doing anything for.me. 3. I wanted to see how my body would do, solely relying on LDN. I wanted to see if there was a difference. I'm still on a very low dose and haven't been on it long at all.. Just a minth and going up every two weeks a half mg. Yes, at first I experienced more prodrome quitting this second time, around the same time starting LDN, but after two weeks that subsided. I also quite BC at the same time and other things, so I k ow I threw my body way out if whack.. Anyway, so yeah, I'm a month n half off valtrex, month on LDN. I had the itching and paresthesia the first two weeks, 3rd and fourth week, no paresthesia for the most part, the feeling of rider's soreness has subsided that I've never been able to get rid of since getting H (neuropathy) and had 3 bumps on my buttock. One week 3, two week for, but are basically gone in a couple days. So I would say yes, I feel it's helping me. What kind of doc are you looking at asking?
  12. Well, you've been on here before, so I'm sure you've seen me state how H is unique for each individual, because it's based off of our immune systems, which are as unique as our thumb prints. So no one person will be the same. . I very rarely have prodrome when I find an OB. It's just there... Usually I ha e prodrome and no obz especially w itching.. When I've had an Ob outside of my primary, the itching was very minimal.. Not much at all, but just when I feel that I'm shedding, I can itchin certain spots. Prodrome and having an OB are not mutually exclusive... You can have one w out the other. I highly recommend that you start journaling daily, location, sensation, physical appearance, number if tines and triggers... I still do this a yr n half later.
  13. Go get that blood test ASAP and that will take ll you if you need to tell past partners or not. You can't wait too much longer.
  14. That's not a good site at all. . even lab testing sites will tell you that's not the case to come up positive in 2 weeks. If you did, it's because it would be the wrong test, like a combined w IgM. It's 3 months the earliest, 6 months in the max it could take for someone, but very rare w herpes. Something like HIV, that can happen w, because it will go dormant in blood cells and antibodies go through a life cycle... They don't stay alive forever, they go through abdie off stage. So someone who day is HIV infected, could immediately have the virus go into dormacy and antibody count so low, it's undectable.... That virus behaves very different than H... So is it possible? Possibly .. More then exception, than the rule.
  15. I guess it can help in a way, by the fact that it boosts your immune system, so I'd imagine better suppression of the virus. This drug is not known well by doc's and is still considered even unorthodox in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, so I'd imagine that docs would be even more wary about prescribing it for things outside of having AI diseases. Finding doctors w alternative medicine or functional, D.O. docs, neurologists, and rheumatologists and endocrinologists, would be the ones more likely to have heard of it and prescribe it to patients. It also doesn't work for everyone .. I was terrified the first day I got it and cried, because i was excited to get it, but scared I'd be one of those people it doesn't work for; alas... It is working for me. Thank god.
  16. Also, did you take a blood test too or just a swab? If you take a blood test as soon as possible. It will tell you if it's a new infection, because it will be negative. .there also has been situations where someone was newly infected, was asymptomatic, then sleeps w someone else in a close window to the person that infwcted them and the other person get it and have an OB. Then they go get tested, both that is and the asymptomatic person comes up negative in blood, cause it was a new infection for them too. See how this can get complicated?
  17. So he went in and requested for a full STD panel or did he specifically ask to be tested for herpes? Did you have your herpes typed in the swab? Do you know?
  18. Well a blood test won't tell you anything w a new infection. It takes 3-4 months to develop antibodies to even detectable levels. So that means nothing. Your symptoms really do sound like H, all combined together, but it's imperative to get a proper diagnosis. The leg pain is something some of us get, I had severe neuropathy in my buttock and back of thighs. A massage won't help, cause it's nerve pain, not muscle pain. It can feel like muscle soreness when it's mild, but it can also be burning or shooting pain at it's worst. Swabs have to be taken w in 48brs of onset of sores. Because you didn't have blisters or an ulcer, it can come back w a false negative... Think swabs have a high rate of false negatives... You're going to have to wait 3-4 mo ths and request a type specific IgG Elissa test, IgM is worthless or if you have an OB again, so not squeeze it and immediately go get it swabbed.
  19. Yes those stats are for ghsv2 and having intercourse. Yes, it can be that low, bit still always a risk. O got it one time from sex w someone who lied to me, alas, it was unprotected and I'm sure he wasn't on antivirals. My beat guy friend was w his ex for 7yrd and she had it and he never got it. I'm not sure what your question is about two weeks to six months?
  20. Yep, just be patient and alcohol, especially liquor; seems to lower the immune system and impact nerves, so it would be good to avoid for awhile to be in the safe side. A month or two maybe? I didn't follow this, because I'm a wino... Hahaha.
  21. 1. Because you were positive only a month after infection, you already had HSV 1. Takes 3-4 months to build antibodies at a detectable level. 2. You already have oral HSV 1, so nothing to worry about, but yes, there's a chance you coukd still get it done there. The HSV types don't change from one type to another, based on location. You can get HSV 1 in both places. 2 doesn't like the mouth and is like 2% of the cases. It' rare, but it still can happen getting HSV 2 in the mouth. You already have HSV 1.... Nothing to worry about getting it orally, from oral sex w someone w ghsv 2. 2. You don't have antibodies to HSV 2, because your test was negative and if you did get it, which isn't very likely; it would take 3-4 months to show in blood. 3. Is she taking antivirals? The risk is pretty low. Sex 3xs a week for a yrz risk w the following caveats are as follows. * no meds or condoms: 4% *condoms or meds: 2% *condoms and antivirals: 1%
  22. I didn't realize it was that contagious.
  23. I know how depressing this can be and reading the lifestyle guides could be really beneficial for you, to learn to cope better w it. Hang in there! Hugs! https://herpesopportunity.com/guides.php
