Actually the main cause of viral meningitis is not herpes. Just because you've had sex w someone w cold sores, doesn't mean you have it. Have you ever had a genital ob? To don't have meningitis.. You would be extremely ill, that you'd have no choice but to go to the ER. I think it may behoove of you to see someone for your anxiety. You day it's not a disorder, but generalized anxiety (which I have), doesn't cause anxiety to this extent. Most people have oral herpes. You don't need a scan. That is ridiculous.. I think you should go to planned parenthood to get yourself checked for H. They work out payments w you.

Has she ever been tested for herpes? Just because she's never had an OB, doesn't mean she hasn't have it. Imgeting her tested and finding out if she has it, would lower your stress levels a lot and you can't pass it back to her. Have you considered taking meds?

Well you didn't say what type it is and a headache isn't an indicator someone caught H. Being on meds obviously would lower any risk. Type 2 fienstlike the mouth and rarely ever spreads there, but I've seen it a couple times.. Hsv 1 on your genitals is more likely so spread to her mouth.

So you're assuming you have herpes, but didn't get diagnosed? I used gloves to touch touch down there when I first got it, out of paranoia. Just be careful of you have any open wounds on your fingers or hang nails. Take daily Epsom salt baths w lots of salt and also purchase Bactine spray. It helps numb the area and dries it up. Use that severaI times a day. Baking soda to help keep thinks dry will help to.

From the studies I read it was mainly gay men w HIV, but we've had some on here recently, one man and one femakwz who said they got oral HSV 2.

Well, I think it would be good to get the blood test IMHO, just so you two can no and find out you may not have to worry. Do what works for you guys though.

I had viral meningitis at 22 and there was w out a doubt, something seriously wrong w me and I couldn't ever post like this, when that happened to me. Trust me, you get very sick and not just like your typical flu. The pain in your head can be excruciating, especially if you develop extra cerebral fluid from the inflammation. Btw, viral meningitis won't kill you, only if you get the extra fluid in the brain like I did (22lbs, which was why I was in so much pain), is there risk for serious issues, which would be brain damage, cause you're brain will shrink to accommodate the amount of pressure on your brain. Other than that, they just let viral meningitis run its course. MRI can't tell you if you have meningitis and neither can a blood test. The only way they can tell, is doimg a spinal tap. I woke up and w in hrs was in unbearable pain, so I think you're OK after four days. If you're concerned, then go to the ER, but they're going to do a spinal tap. I think a Xanax would be likely what you need. :-) You didn't mention what type you have and where, so I'm going to assume oral HSV 1. Ha e you been on Google lately? Is this a new infection? Do you suffer from anxiety by chance

Some people do get flu like symptoms w obs. Dancer says ex husband did w every OB for awhile. Guess it just depends on the immune system.

Yes HSV 1 doesn't convert to HSV 2, just because it goes on our lady bits. Your HSV 2 infection z would give you immunity from getting HSV 1 on your genitals. So you never have been swabbed? It is possible for a false positive on HSV 2, if they out you in fkr the combined hsv test and not a type specific. Swabs would not give you a false positive on type of hsv. Do you know your values and the type of test? Well just the fact that you tested positive after 3 weeks in blood for hsv 2, is making me start to question the test you were out in for. Can you provide that info and then we can answer accordingly.

Nope, I've had on my crack, anus z all over my buttcocks and one small one periodically pops up in the same place below my cheek, groin crease, pubic bone area, all over my vagina and inside, inner thighs, etc... It just wants to cover all ground w me. A DO is more about identifying what's going on w your body as a whole and trying to resolve it as a whole. They tend to see one problem, as the cause of something else being off and see the body holistically, vs a MD just treating the symptoms or specific aliment. DOs look to make sure your body is in perfect balance and believe it must be to treat your problem, rather than the symptoms.

There's no way you could come up positive ten days after infection. My blood test was negative 7 days after infection and was positive 30 monts after infection . sex after long periods w out it can trigger an OB. Even being exposed to a new persons pH balance can cause it or even condoms. I know, H is so unpredictable. @wcsdancer2010 what are your thoughts on this?

U agree w Dancer, especially because it seems that you all are taking the stance you have it and he doesn't, which appears you seem to be worrying about transmission to him. You could avoid this anxiety, by knowing his status. If he has it, you're not going to obsess about every little itch and fear intimacy. See what what we mean?

Just in case it's herpes, herpes zoster or something, I wouldn't put steroid cream on it. Spray Bactine on it. Bactine numbs it and dries it out. I have had the reddness down my crack that itched a tiny, but it felt more like a paper cut and when my cheeks out spread ever so slightly from standing up from the sitting position, it would kinda feel like my skin was going to tear and like it was very thin. Thanks a tree oil would probably light your ass on fire, literally putting it on that area and it's easy to burn your skin w it, if not diluted enough. I stay away from that stuff for me personally, especially because the smell is so strong. I can smell it through pants. Yip, coffee I found was triggering me. I need my caffeine, so I switched to the Starbucks strawberry refresher, because it has the extract of green coffee beans for caffine, but doesntthave all the arginene or however you spell it, like coffee does. For some reason, only liquor triggers obs for me, wine and beer doesn't. I have to assume it's the highly processed sugar and garbage in it. @as89 when are you going to see a rheumatologist? The fact that your mom has MS and you've had other skin condition other places, it really makes me believe you have some autoimmune issue going on. I would be shocked if you didn't. You've been having this breakouts down below for how long and then taken a blood test like a yr after those symptoms started too and came out negative right?
