  2. Aww sorry to hear you went through that!!! Its very liekly this man didnt even know he had anything, most people who have hsv dont know it because they are asymptonmatic (show no signs, have no prodromes). But wait..... Above your eye!?! I.m.o. that doesnt sound like herpes friend. It may be something else. Your best bet is to get a culture swab to identify what it actually is. as for hsv1 aka the coldsire virus, 80% of our population has this so dont worry about that. and as for hsv2, as hard as being diagnosed with it can be, its really no big deal!! I promise u that!! Search up the facts and stats in the f.a.q. section. Itll help u understand things a lil better..
  3. It does go away.. i was diagnosed i january of this year and around febuary i had the constant itchy feeling. Lasted a couple weeks. Epson salt baths do wonders!!! (Even if ur not having symptons) I also endes up buying 2% lydocain jelly. It took the itchy away fro about 3-4 hrs. And u can get it over the xounter at any pharmacy. Hope this helps a but. dont worry, your body will soon create enough antibodies to kick it back to dormancy!!
  4. I havent had those problems personally so i cant help ya there.. but i did post info on meds a while back.. Heres the link.. http://herpeslife.com/herpes-forum/discussion/4656/understand-the-meds-re-valtrex-and-acyclovir-and-generics#Item_7
  5. I dont have any experience with this either, but from the post ive read people who do have hsv2 orally , they say that youd know id it was hsv2. Youd feel it in the back of your throat with sores evrrywhere. And thats its excrutiating pain. I.m.o. i think its a bacterial infection. Try gargling warm salt water, and eat natural yogurt.. Im sorry we cant be more helpfull right now..
  6. I know how u feel.. its not an easy diagnosis to deal with. i was swabbed back in january, but my blood test in april said negative, i was so hopefull that the blood was a correct result. But i did alot of research throughout this forum, and learned that herpes isnt that big of a deal, so in june when my second blood test came back positive, i didnt even flinch! Emotional healing will come with time, learn as much as u can, and read the inspirational posts! They have sure helped me gain a new happier perspective on life! Heres a couple links if ur intrested.. worth a read when u have the time!! http://markmanson.net/worst-moments-of-your-life http://tinybuddha.com/blog/getting-back-spark-every-day-feels-hard/ http://thoughtcatalog.com/haley-jackson/2014/04/to-all-the-people-who-struggle-sometimes/ http://www.lifebuzz.com/just-stop/?utm_source=iajsiaspal9920&utm_medium=fb&utm_campaign=juststopios
  7. Hate to say it, but usually a swab is the most accurate. As the swab test looks for the herpes virus wheras.. blood tests can give false negatives/positives because they look for the antibodies our bodys create when infected by the herpes virus. and the blood tests arent always correct when recently exposed to the virus because for some people it can take up to a year for the antibodies to form..
  8. @forgivenessandpeace .. i think u mean ... Hsv 2 - is herpes Symplex virus hzv - herpes zoster virus - aka shingles
  9. Ya i agree with @forgivenessandpeace ! Female to male transmission rate is only 4%. (Based in sex 2x weekly over a one year time frame) You could use condoms, or the femal condom (fc2) if ur still concerned. And if you do have the hsv2 virus the condom use will lower transmission rates by about 50%. Think of it this way.... theres roughly at 2%/year chance that you'll get hurt in a car accident/ year. But u probably still drive or get in a vehicle right?!
  10. I think she was maybe trying to de stigmatize herpes. like making out with her co stars wasnt such a big deal cuz she didnt think the risk of getting or maybe passing hsv1 was a risk at all!?
  11. @E9507 I dont know about men vs women when it comes to o.bs and symptons.. but as for passing it to ur bf, dont stress to much! Female to male transmission is 4%. So if you go on supressive iy can cut that in half. Also u can use condoms which will too ..
  12. Also heres a link i posted a while back on what the meds can do for you! http://herpeslife.com/herpes-forum/discussion/4656/understand-the-meds-re-valtrex-and-acyclovir-and-generics/p1
  13. Basically the higher the number on ur blood test the more antibodies u have. It usually take 3 to 12 months to build uo enough antibodies for your body to take care of yhe virus on its own without meds. But remember herpes doesnt play by any rules.. soo sometimes ur body cant fight the virus on its own even if youve jad it for 5 years. your imune system and overal health come into the game too.. examole im celiac, so if i eat gluten.. not only will i feel icky for a few days.. i get prodromes too. If you want u can take antiviral suppressive therapy. It will help ur body as well as cut the transmission rate (about 4% ) down 50 to 80%.. so transmission rate is about 2% or maybe even less!
  14. Hey victoria! Sorry to hear everythings upside down right now, but i know u can get through this!! You have posted so many helpfull tips in the past, and you give courage to those who need it. its ok to have sad days.. moments w/e. We all go through them even if its not h related! It takes a strong soul to stay away from a negative comfort zone. Remeber that you do have good things in your life, even at hard times. I know how you feel about beine alone. I kicked soo many people out of my life since january, and its really hard to make new friends you can trust. I now have a bf ive been seeimg for 5 months, and hes amazing and all... but it would be nice to have other people besides him.. and before him.. i was an emotional basket case!! Heres some links i think that might help put an optimistic perspective in ur eyes.. http://tinybuddha.com/blog/getting-back-spark-every-day-feels-hard/ http://thoughtcatalog.com/haley-jackson/2014/04/to-all-the-people-who-struggle-sometimes/ http://markmanson.net/fuck-yes http://www.elephantjournal.com/2014/05/a-take-no-sht-list-for-your-well-being/ http://thoughtcatalog.com/tim-hoch/2014/06/10-ways-youre-making-your-life-harder-than-it-has-to-be/ http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-12880/12-lifestyle-factors-that-make-you-feel-depressed.html http://markmanson.net/worst-moments-of-your-life these links have put an extra bounce in my step! I hope they help u!!
  15. Oh ya no problem!! I always shave.. maybe like once every 3 days. It hasnt been a trigger for me either. Just make sure after you shave you use one of em fancy loofas down there to help exfoliate the skin.. i also put aloe vera gel on the skin i have shaved just help with any razor burn that may have occured. (But dont use the gell on an o.b.!! Ouch!!)
  16. Heres some links u can check out that can help!! http://eepurl.com/b4IPP (Easy to understand info here) http://supporttruthanddialog.com/basic-herpes-facts-2/ ( @WCSDancer2010 's blog) http://herpeslife.com/herpes-forum/discussion/3183/new-video-herpes-facts/p1 (best 8 min youtube video you will ever watch that @Adrial made on herpes)
  17. Hello and welcome!! Congrats on the baby!!! Yay!! So just i.m.o. i believe its quite possible u got the virus from ur hubby. He likely has passed the oral hsv1 to ur genitalls. (Which by tje way is suupper commen nowadays!) U can ask your doc for another perscription if you want, if u really think its a back to back o.b. But it could also just be the feeling you get when the virus travels back through the nerve where it will stay dormant for a while. As for helping tje virus, you can try L-lysine supplements. It helps with symptons mostly with hsv1. I have found it helps me and i have hsv2. Some people will say the l-lysine doesnt help them, every body is different. And as for condoms, i would figure out first what type u have. If its type 1 then you *shouldnt* need condoms as ur hubby already has the antibodies for hsv1. When u have an o.b., some nurses say u can be eexual again once its cleard. But mostwill tell you to wait 3 to 7 days. Unless ur doc swabbed ur mouth and has decided it is hsv, i would assume that a sor IN the mouth is just a cankersore, not a coldsore. And cankers can be brought on by salt, acidic foods, and stress.
  18. U shittn me!? I wonder how ur country would feel about me crossing the border just for valtrex... lol
  19. Hey! Thought id chime in... first i have a question... do u know what * type* you have?? Hsv1 or hsv2? My bf and i have been together, for 5 months now. i have hsv2 genitally, he doesnt. we dont use condoms ( im allergic to latex) Im on suppressive therapy, which can reduce transmission 50% to 80%!! Weve tried using the female condom (fc2) and that didnt work at all for *us. we have sex often, and a bit of oral too.. and as far as we know my bf is still H-. as for dental damns, i dont think u need it, as hsv2 doesnt like being oral.
  20. @Beachdude1984, @WCSDancer2010, Im in Canada BC, and i pay $65 for Valtrex. All Generic for Valtrex is not being sold anymore Due to the patent issue which wil not be looked into untill 2017. All the pharmacies withing 3 hrs of where i live have sold out Generic. Valtrex.. a one month supply suppressively... cost $128 here. so with the rx card i have thats why i only pay 65, and i priced out famcyclovir and acyclovir and both are only $5 cheaper.
  21. Ive never taken the shot before, have u ever been on the pill? Do u like it better than the pill? I skip my period on purpose to avoid o.b.s and ive been on the same bramd b.c. pill for almost 6 or maybe 7 years now... so im nervouse to try a different method!
  22. Eye opening and beautiful dancer!!! I love how all of your posts are informative on not only herpes.. but life too. i often go back and re read one of your posts just to get "grounded" again. thank you!!
  23. Well u can treat it like a coldsore untill u know for sure just to be safe!? But swab it!!! Dont get a visual diagnosis
