  1. @ash2018 I started a hormone vaginal cream for dryness at the same time I started valtrex. So I experienced the exact same thing you did vulvar pain (Right side) nerves going crazy!! Once I stopped the cream and did the switch to acyclovir it all settled. I went to gyn I and had them check for vulvadynia (sp) and they found nothing. Hope you get to the bottom of this and things settle. I wonder if it's birth control and anti viral mix! Can you switch to a different birth control or go off temporarily just to see??
  2. Ok, got it. I know I sort of intruded on the thread. You would think I'd know every last detail being a 35 plus year veteran! Thanks
  3. I think it is discrimination. Genital herpes seems way more "taboo" than cold sores!!! Am I correct in saying that if it wasn't for cold sores, there would be no genital herpes??
  4. @ash2018 I know you are really struggling with this. Gosh, I have no clue what the heck is going on with you. So, your first outbreak was this June or last June? If this June, I guess your body could still be struggling to fight the virus. If it was June of last year, I think I would be looking into another cause. I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time with this. I understand completely as you are planning a wedding and obviously wanting to continue relations with your fiance'. Have you had a complete blood work up done? Not related to herpes, I mean. I think I would just to make sure everything else is in check. Also, because you are so stressed, you may be keeping yourself under constant virus activation (for lack of another word). Have you tried regular massage for helping relax? Just throwing that out there. Planning a wedding, dealing with the H among other stressors could just be keeping you really tense and your nerves flared.
  5. @Dave even though I have disclosed, I agree that the risk is minimal provided you are using condoms and anti viral and no ob. As you mention no one ever thinks about disclosing oral H and if I'm correct here, there would be no genital H if it weren't for oral!
  6. Lol....back in those days people only bathed properly a few times per month at best so the stench probably outweighed anything coming with it!!! Just sayin
  7. Personally, I feel if you don't make a big deal out of it.....the person being disclosed to won't either
  8. Way to own it girl. Don't ever think he's re-thinking when he's quiet. He sounds completely good with it. Just relax and enjoy this great man in your life. My husband (when I first disclosed) said he'd be the last person I'd ever have to tell and he meant it. Never brings it up and is negative after 21 years!
  9. Also, have you started any kind of hormone treatment? Not sure of your age. That can do it too
  10. It took a couple of weeks as I went straight frtom valtrex to acyclovir with no break. In other words the valtrex was still in my system. I woukd give it at least 2 weeks
  11. I definitely had constant prodrome symptoms ( which I never have othereise) when I tried Valtrex ....same as you describe. I switched to acyclovir and it all went away in about 10 days
  12. I think zero chance for that particular sex act. If he has cold sores the transmission would occur from his mouth to your genitals. Has he performed oral on you at all?? If so, that's more likely as he could be shedding anytime with or without an obvious cold sore.
  13. I've read 75% chance transmission outbreak.
  14. Very unlikely you have acquired it
  15. It is possible even for a few seconds, BUT, if you read the stats it's a very, very low risk given the time involved. If it were me, I would think of a way to ask him in a round about way and go from there. It's way more possible he has hvs1 orally than you getting it from the other guy in a matter of seconds. Of course, just my opinion. Maybe someone else can shed more light here
  16. @hatemylife I'm going out on a limb here....did this guy have a cold sore at the time of oral? Just curious as oral hvs1 doesn't shed as much as hvs2 and if your encounter was just a few seconds, I'm wondering if you did, in fact, acquire this from him.....seems pretty unlikely. Has your husband ever had cold sores (as a child, I mean)? I would ask because if he did, then likely you got it from him.
  17. @ash2018 sounds like you are handling things well for just having been diagnosed. Good for you. It gets better! Do you have 1 or 2 and how soon after your encounter did you experience your symptoms? I'm not new to this, but am reading and studying more into the incubation period. It varies so much.
  18. If you were tested and it showed positive for Hvs2, it should say negative for Hvs1 on the same paper if I remember mine correctly as you are tested for both.
  19. Likely not. Valtrex would still be in your system if you just forgot one dose
  20. Its rare for it to be the right leg according to what I read. I find that extraordinary
  21. Anyone know the reason for herpes related leg pain to be mostly restricted to the left leg?? I've read this many times and am very curious as to why the left leg??
  22. My gynecologist of over 30 years as well as the new Dr's and aids all say it's so common and don't even bat an eye.....however, they all seem more than willing to answer or get an answers for any H related questions. They've even asked around and gotten back to me which is refreshing. Besides that, you have to figure in that large practice, several of them have it!!!
  23. It could be, but if a guy truly cares about you, the H is immaterial
